Moguls
Started by Simon T in Ski Technique, 34 Replies, discussing Alpe d'Huez and Verbier
Spent 3 hrs yesterday frustrating myself on moguls, trying to hold a tight corridor ski a whole pitch. Can't seem to rotate my left turn under my body enough which means am struggling to control the speed. Might want to chop my arms off as well to tidy things up.

Insurance ( lack )

Have started to use the Austrian Alpine club who seem to be very efficient; with card posted out to France in 3 days. One of the few providers that actually cover the range of activities that I participate in.

Having said that previously when have needed to use insurance(Dog Tag)have found myself just paying out of my pocket. Unfortunately all insurance companies expectantly want you to get a much for free as possible which was not consistent with the surgery choices I wanted. All things equal probably best to have something just don't expect it to be 100% useful.

Off for a 3hr lesson in PM, to see what the experts have to say.

Have actually been working on some muscle memory to help separation whilst standing at my desk :-) and felt like was skiing super solid yesterday so will be interesting to see if they are in agreement :-).

Either way continual lesson are a big part of achieving and maintaining bio mechanical efficiency and avoiding any burning sensation. Even instructors do training sessions / seminars to keep their skiing evolving so perhaps we all need to embrace a continual learning philosophy vs. standard 2 weeks of lessons.

Hopefully technique does not get picked apart .

The one suggested by Daved looks good. Perhaps the vents make it a slight improvement on pulling a buff up.
Seems you really just want endorsement to buy more ski gear, which we wholly support :-).
If you really feel is going to be that cold; make sure thermal tops have hoods plus those nice thumb looks to ensure your wrists are covered to help keep hands warm. New set of inner gloves and some mittons on top and should be good to go.

Had one years ago and was a waste of time to be honest. Uncomfortable, gets wet, steamy goggles, look like a psycho.

Buff should be fine, if is colder than that you are not likely to be skiing. For cold days I would normally wear a thermal layer which has a hood incorporated into it; which I pull up so is under my helmet. That with a buff pulled upto nose and goggles keeps you pretty well sealed, with only the jacket hood used for when there is blizzard conditions.

Was pretty nippy in Alps this morning, three thermal layers a thin synthetic down thing and a soft shell and my hands and feet were suffering. Looks like tomorrow is a full Michelin man day.
Has been a week since top lifts in Chamonix opened, I expect to see it updated to 4m on Saturday when weather improves. Big snow again today, this evening.
