Johntin,
Please don't give up on us. I want to know the outcome of this. Maybe it's something as simple as they had the wrong room number?

Don't worry about Ian. He just hates getting ripped off - he has a real thing about it. It makes him see red and then he refuses to ever fly/stay or whatever with the culprit.

Lots of us rent self-catering accommodation in France, and it would be nice to know our legal position on this issue.

Thanks Bandit,
A very nice autobiographical film, although I have to admit I'd never heard of him before - it seems he gave up ski racing to ski in films? I'm amazed he's still alive after some of his crashes.

Well done Getjim, for editing your post, and I hope you, and everyone else, has a great time in Mayrhofen :D

We stayed in a self-catering apartment only a few yards from the Huit a huit opposite the sports centre (in the Caron district) and it was open all day every day from 8 to 8 except that it shut at lunch time, which was a bit inconvenient because that was the very time we wanted to get in there and buy our lunch!

I think the Cheval Blanc apartments were quite a bit lower down in the resort.

Thanks Ian,
That's very kind of you, but I used to have an eight year old myself (twice in fact, before they grew up), and you can keep her :D

I'm too old for that sort of thing now :D

I've now reached the age where I need a nap in the afternoon on my ski holidays :D

Trencher

Aw shucks, I'm a sucker for doing just three more runs! :D

I solved this problem by having a short nap (half an hour) at lunch time in my apartment, in between my two lots of lessons, when I was feeling a bit tired and not particularly well (due to my broken toe, although I didn't know this at the time). I felt a lot better after my nap, and managed to ski all afternoon :D

Maybe they should provide bunks in mountain cafes (like in playgroup) so that tired skiers can have a quick nap before their 'one more run'

Dave Mac wrote:I think that you will find that is a bit of spoof Ally. Having said that, we used to have to teach how to fall properly, and how to get up!

Thanks Dave,
Do you think you could please type up these instructions (fall and get up) for me, please (seriously, I mean, I'm not joking). In my lessons I fall over quite a bit and any advice to help reduce my injuries would be very gratefully received :D

Maybe you should start a new thread on it, I haven't seen one specifically for this.

Thanks,

Was that the instructor deliberately falling over in order to show them what NOT to do?

I've never seen an instructor do that - mind you, the rest of the class has me they can watch falling over instead
