Admin,
Can you please hide this post from Tony asap? There's no knowing how he will react . Irishjay Delighted that you had such a good time. However, as you are now well and truly hooked, prepare to embark on a lifelong obsession that will turn you into a complete bore in the eyes of your non-skiing friends  |

... while partial to a few libations after a hard day's skiing (and on other occasions), I really do not like the binge culture that has crept in in recent years :x. I know I sound like an old f**t but when did it become "cool" to go out with the express objective of getting completely hammered, as opposed to this creeping up on you slowly over the course of a long and enjoyable session .
I know the item is only meant as a bit of fun, but a quick check on a typical day's skiing for me suggested that it would be acceptable to consume 13 drinks afterwards . Quite apart from the potential health issues, this level of consumption is likely to result in a completely unacceptable outcome - missed skiing next day because you are too ill to get up   . |

Wow. Top of the list  Only 4 sleeps left
Really looking forward to it now. Forecast is for more snow Saturday, Sunday & Monday so snow conditions should be excellent. Hope visibility is ok. OH threatening to stay in hotel if foggy - I'll really miss her  |

That is a very expensive transfer . Might be worth considering the train to Moutier and then a taxi up to resort (about €60 each way - 30 minute journey). The train station is in Lyon Airport so no problems there.
It will take a bit longer and involves a little more inconvenience but could save the pair of you close to €500 unless you can find someone to share with . |

In a word, YES  Well perhaps it would be more accurate to say "maybe". For early March, I would not dismiss the SkiWelt. They have a good base now with plenty more snow forecast over the coming few days. Given the area's capacity to manage snow, I would expect the piste to be still in wonderful condition in early March. Obviously, you are fairly low down and if you hit high temperatures, you could face quite slushy conditions in the afternoon. Also, probably unlikely that you would any worthwhile off-piste skiing at that time. Not convinced that is terribly different in most resorts bar the very highest. As regard Dolomites, Campitello, Canazei and Ortesie are pretty much directly linked into the main Sella Ronda circuit. It doesn't take long, for example, to get over to Arabba from any of these villages. I would regard any of these as being excellent bases for the Dolomites. I am off to this area on 14th and actually staying a few miles further up the valley from Campitello. This will be a bit of a pain getting to the 1st lifts but hotel was excellent value. It does also mean we are close to a couple of smaller ski areas that we wouldn't otherwise visit. Some of these can be really nice and usually largely deserted even in mid-term week :D |

Tony for skiing I would regard La Plagne as being right up there, especially for a mileage hound like yourself. I would prefer La Plagne to Les Arcs as I think it has a far better selection of runs, including some lovely tree-lined runs to neighbouring valleys. The link to Les Arcs is really impressive with the double decker cablecar but the link also involves several other chairs so quite a time commitment to get between the two
I was really disappointed with pisting last time I was there. We were there for New Year's week and on the Thursday night, there was a big dump. However, as it was the end of that week and the following week was a really quiet week, they didn't seem to be making any great effort to get the resort open again quickly, apart from a few baby runs so that the insurance wouldn't have to pay out . As a result, we had very little skiing on our last day . As for prices, it is France :!: I have gotten completely fed up being ripped off. There are only so many times when you can fork out €20+ for 4 hot chocolates . Now I look pretty exclusively at Austria and Italy for my ski trips - great skiing and far better value all round  |

..... the forecasts have now been revised down to less than 20cm   . It should still freshen up slopes nicely but not the epic dump they had been forecasting a couple of days ago . Where has all the lovely snow gone :?: |
