Hi All,
44cm of snow predicted in Pas de la Casa between Sunday and Tuesday next week and the moisture content over andorra is even higher on Wednesday so I cant wait to see the forcast tomorrow when they add on wednesday 24th.............. Fingers crossed............ Lets just hope it doesnt go from no snow to more snow than they can handle. Chap1978 |

As Iceman says its more like guessing if you try and forecast any more than 48 hours in the mountains as one small change can dramatically alter the weather. A site you may want to check out is http://www.wunderground.com/modelmaps/maps.asp?model=GFS&domain=EU Its a model forecast of moisture content in the air. Therefore the amount of rain / snow can roughly be predicted. This too changes rapidly and you need to find out the freezing height to see if its going to be rain or snow. To get the freezing heights try the below site http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/snow.asp metcheck also give forecasts. I'm off to Andorra on 28th Jan and as you will see there is a large moisture content over the area on the tuesday and wednesday before (looking at the first link I gave). Dont bother with the animate button just hover your mouse over the hours above the map or use the >> button to move up in the hours as this gives you more info. Both sites are updated quite regulary so its best to keep an eye on them. I hope this helps. Any questions just shout. Metcheck just emailed me with a forcast of 3.6cm of snow next monday at 1032m (Pas de la Casa is at 2030m). I have also looked at moisture levels and wed 24th there is a massive moisture content right over Andorra. As we all know forcasting that far ahead is more like guess work, but lets hope it comes off. Freezing height is also rapidly dropping to 1000m next week.
Maybe just maybe there maybe a dump of the good old white stuff......... :) :-) :) :D |

Just recieved this link in another forum and though you all may want to check it out. Its predicted moisture content for the next 14 days. Check out 24th, 25th and 26th Jan over andorra. Fingers crossed

Hi All,
Earlier today I emailed the company that run all of the ski lifts in the Grand Valira area asking if they were thinking of closing if it didnt snow soon and what the forecasts / predictions were from the area itself. I received the following:- ************************************************************** Good morning, thank you for contacting us. It's true that this year is an atypical winter because of the few snowfalls, but the ski resorts of Andorra has made a big effort in preparing the slopes with artificial snow, and they do not have the idea to close at all. The weather forecast says that we will receive snowfalls from the 20th of January. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require further information. ************************************************************** Fingers crossed this dump actually happens, as we all know the weather is changing so quickly there at the moment anything could happen. If all else fails, you can always import a few hundred sun loungers and will probably make a few quid............ as its hotter in Pas than it is hear at the minute..... :wink: :) Fingers crossed all for that dump of the good old white stuff... Am off to Pas on 28th Jan also and am hoping that it gets a big dump by then. Still 3 weeks until I'm there so fingers crossed. Probably like most of you I have been checking out the webcams. The link below has quite a few webcams in andorra (3 in pas and others in surrounding valleys) so well worth checking out. Good luck all and enjoy your trips. Lets just hope it dumps and soon!!!!
