Driving over the Peak District hills this afternoon in the snow:!:
|

I bought a set last year but by the time they arrived (as they were out of stock!!) the snow had gone so not had chance to try them! My brother in law got stuck last winter, popped on his snow socks (they're really simple to use) and bingo, finished the journey home.
I guess the moral of this story is don't leave it till the snow comes to try and get them! They hardly weigh anything so I have left them in the boot just in case. You put them on the driving wheels so I don't think it matters FWD or RWD. |

...and the sheer excitement when you decide you can go AGAIN before the end of the season

I'm lucky 'cause I live in the Peak District and my commute to work is 10 minutes through the Derbyshire countryside! However, the hills, and the views still don't come close to the spectacular scenery in the Dolomites (my favourite ski area)it's hard to beat! I would take a ski holiday over a beach one any day.
Booked with TC for Feb so fingers crossed. PS so are the toes for the snow! |

Hi Lynne,
Thanks for that report it has brought back some fantastic memories! We're off Arabba in February (95 sleeps) for the 5th time. I learnt to ski there in 2008 for my 40th birthday, not an ideal place for a beginner (at that age) but my instructor advised me 'if you can ski here you can ski anywhere!' With 1200km on the same pass we haven't skied the same area twice, (apart from the route back to our hotel)and there is still more to discover. We have a guide each year from the Arabba ski school which doubles up as lessons so you manage to go further afield without having to stop and look at the piste maps! The Hidden Valley is a must with the bonus of the horses pulling you along the flat section at the end! For something different try the Serrai di Sottoguda opposite the Marmolada cable car, quite a spectacular foot path wide trail through a ravine with frozen waterfalls and ice climbers. We have the 'e-skipass' on the www.dolomitisuperski.com website which you load from home so are straight off on Day 1! Happy days Reference to the off piste, although we are not 'off pisters' I believe that it's not allowed in the dolomitisuperski area without a guide. Reference to helmets, in Italy it is law to wear them under 14 years of age so the Italians grow up with them. You seem to be in the minority if you don't wear one. We are off the Les Arcs in January but have never been there before!(60 sleeps) Can't wait! Lisa |

We are off to Les Arcs 1800 next season for the first time and are wondering which ski pass to buy. Do we just buy the Paradiski Discovery which allows 1 day in the Paradiski area or is it worth splashing out the 254 euros on the Paradiski Unlimited which allows unlimited access? Or, do we need to go to Paradiski at all, is there enough skiing around Les Arc?
