To book or not to book

Do both!
It was only a matter of time......reminds me of the introduction of compulsory helmet wearing on motorcycles back in the early 70s...everyone bleating on about it.....you don't hear too much negative comment now though. Good idea, lots of resistance. End result, legislation. Same thing really...
have you been to Les Menuires France

This year will be my sixth visit to Les Menuires. I think it is great...the cheapest of the 3V resorts, ugly yes, but perfectly situated for access to the whole ski area.

Have a great time!
Norway

OK, so my son is off to Norway skiing on 31 Jan, to Gala??
Has anyone been there? Is it particularly cold, compared to Alpine ski resorts? Anything I need to get him, or make him take so that he doesn't die?

Many thanks
some local knowledge please!

St Martin is a little sleepy as far as nightlife goes. Head up to Les Menuires for clubs and pubs. Still not the apres ski centre of the universe, but definitely more lively than St M.
Dare to drive!!

No big saving, but you can take LOADS more stuff.

Yep, 10-12 hours to Tignes, non-stop apart from fuel stops, depending on weather

Chains? Yes. If it's snowing on the approach roads the Gendarmes will turn you around if you don't have chains on. 4wd not necessary.

Use the tolls. The time savings far outweigh costs. Look at £200 and you won't be far off. Using the French equivalent of A and B roads takes forever, is miles further, and will drive you nuts.
Too much snow!!!

Haha....a week ago the forums were inundated with doom and gloom about lack of snow...I've just checked out the Tignes webcams, and it would appear that it is hoofing down, and there's about half a metre on the ground already. Viz on the slopes looks pretty bad in the near blizzard conditions too.

Fantastic news. Hopefully it'll keep up, and we'll get a bumper season   :D

Red run down to Val Thorens from the Cime de Caron. Screaming corkscrewing run, balls out, barely clinging to the edges on the hairpins, legs like jelly in clingfilm..FANTASTIC!
