We've used Ski Republic in the past and they've been cheap and efficient with a good standard of equipment. They're next door to the bakery in the Borsat end of VC.
This year we tried Tignes Spirit, paid a bit more and we did get really good kit. The main reason we chose them was because they offer to fit at your apartment. This I reckon is only available on non-changeover days though. We ended up being shuttled to their shop in Le Lac, ("we're too busy today to come out, you could wait till tomorrow but it'll be later in the day" (Not good) then standing around on the last day in a blizzard trying to return kit to a chap in a minibus. Not the convenience we paid extra for! Hey ho. Next time we'll go back to Ski Republic. |

Heellpp!!!
I can't seem to find any way of pre-booking an underground parking slot in Tignes Val Claret. The links on Tignesnet don't work! Is anyone else having problems? Last thing I need is to roll up in January and not have anywhere to park! And if anyone knows of someone with a private parking space they rent out, that would be even better! Many thanks Nick |

Looking for a self catering option for three adults, not toooo cosy, somewhere snow sure and not too long a trek to get on the snow! And hopefully not a budget buster!
Thanks |

Well, it looks like it's car hire...I've exhausted all the options. For a small group like ours it's by far the cheapest option, even including fuel and "gasp" £60 for a weeks parking in Tignes. Ah well, on the upside it'll be quicker than a minibus, and we can stash up on food and drink before we reach Tignes, which should save a packet.....
Happy days.....!! :P |

Hi all,
well, it's that time of year again, planning the trip for the new year, and lo and behold, that age old issue of transfers has come up again. We're trying to get from Geneva to Tignes, and we've come up against Dick Turpin and all his fellow highway robbers. How can a shared transfer for five come in at £110 each? And that's the cheapest! Looks like it's going to be the hire car again, which is still a killer at nearly four hundred quid. Unless we can find a cheaper alternative..... So...question is.....has anyone got any suggestions? We've got a proper sad on at the moment, but it would seem we're completely at the mercy of the transfer companies, who seem to be taking a liberty.... |

Just going to jump in here in support of Ally....I'm not sure why forum members who are not interested in going are having a snipe...if you aren't interested, give Ally a break and keep your comments to yourself. Too many people seem far too quick to knock someone who is obviously going out of their way to achieve something, with nothing to gain personally.
If you've got something useful to say, say it, but if you haven't , button it and let Ally get on. |
