Hi,
From a totally biased perspective I can say Les Arcs tickes a lot of the buttons, although some of the architecture in parts of the resort dates back to the 70's (although steps are being taken to bring things up to date and more pleasing on the eye)....the ski area cannot be faulted and being linked to the area of La Plagne to form the area known as Paradiski, it is one of the largest resorts in the world for sheer size and amount of skiing. Along with some of the best restaurants in the alps(just my opinion) with Le Ferme in Le Pre ,L'Ancolie near Vallandry and the Hostillerie du Petite Saint Bernard, La refuge Alt.810 ,La Tarteflette ,La Savoyarde in Bourg Saint Maurice for example. Also within striking distance you can ski La Rosiere ,Sainte-Foy, Val and Tignes, and a bit further affield the resorts of the Troi Vallee's. Other gems to wet your appetite are Serre Chevaliere ,Megeve ,Chatel,Morzine etc, im sure all the good people on J2SKI will be able to offer a wealth of info. All the best jon |

Hi,
I think somebody has already mentioned silk liners for gloves, but Ami Chaud make some great gloves, also anything with a Gore-Tex or Thinsulate lining may help if they have a good waterproof outer fabric aswell.....fail in that holding a few hot glasses of Vin Chaud or Gluwein may help every couple of hours  Merry Christmas & Happy New Year jon |

Hi All,
£152 is a good price, the cost of a pass for 6 days for the Les Arcs area this season for adults works out at about £195 at todays exchange rate. jon |

:D :DMMMMmmmmm cold:)
Any cold is good, as long as you have the right kit on ,which most of us snow lovers will have .....got stuck on the Toviere chair lift between Val & Tignes once at about 4pm one January and it was roughly -26 BBBrrrr, everything was warm apart from my cheeks and nose...... but it just meant more vin chaud was needed to defrost me  jon |

Yes indeed it is ,i think it's around 15 - 20 euros a pop, you get supplied with a helmet and some 230cm planks (skin tight latex suit, not provided........unless you have something similar in the wardrobe? :D). I think there is an international Speed skiing competition on the Flying Km in Febuary from memory, the public can use it from mid march onwards i think......and if you go over 80 k/ph you get a bronze medal ,100k/ph silver and i think it's 150 for a gold.....if you can overhall the world record of 262k/ph(or there abouts) a clean pair of pants will be provided :D :D jon. |

Hi,
Les Arcs is an excellent choice, with many wide and comfortable pistes for those starting out, the pistes will help your skiing no end and i cannot talk the place up enough(although to be honest i am a little biased towards the area). All the areas are well connected with blues and manageable reds and there are a multitude of gentle tracks also. Have a great time, and an enjoyable ,safe trip.......I have a suspicion you will go again after this year and for years to come :D jon. |

Hi,
Came back from BsM a couple of weeks ago and for a "demi" the price ranged from between 2.40euros amd 4.5euros depending on which bar i eventually fell out off....hic!! For a pitcher of 1664 in Bazoom (about 5 pints worth) from memory was around the 13 - 15 euro mark,so not too bad realy, the ohter ways of keeping the costs down are to drink the "beer pression" (normal draught beer's) or to go to the supermarket and stock up on the plentiful supplies there and have a few before you go out. I think on the whole to keep costs down on the overall holiday cost is to stay in accommadation that is linked into popular resorts or to stay in the not so well known (or just less glitzy ones as it where),prices can't go to stupid levels or the bars, pubs etc will just start to loose business as has happened here in the UK. Eat,drink and be Merry  jon. |
