As your friend is from Iceland is it safe to assume he won't be that bothered by the cold?
That aside, a lot depends on his skiing level and his preferences - very cold temps can mean good snow, but not much fun for a beginner. Personally I'd recommend he skis in December, January, February (except for the half-term holiday weeks), March and April. How long has he got? |

Please pay attention at the back...
We only have one Helmet Debate Thread so you can safely ignore it if you wish. 8) Although we don't have a separate Does My Head Look Good Under This Bobble? thread yet... |

Some heavy snows were reported from around the world this past week, notably from the Pyrenees, Italy and Switzerland where the mild weather of late has given way to a cold snap. The higher French resorts have reported close to half metre snowfalls, with a number of Austrian areas also receiving fresh snow. Cairngorm in Scotland joined the ever-growing list of open resorts with Whistler and Vail planning to open tomorrow (Friday 19th November).
European Weather and Snow Next Week The last few days have been most notable for the interesting hints that the various forecast models have been giving us! What is clear and fairly certain is that the recent mild temperatures are going to take a dip over the next few days, quite likely accompanied by light snow (perhaps moderate in a few isolated areas), over much of the Alpine region. We may then see a couple of days of milder weather, albeit with significant precipitation (rain down low, snow up high) a distinct possibility... but this will herald what looks like quite a plunge in average temperature. Although the forecasts have been quite dynamic for the past 24 hours, they do appear to be converging on a very cold, and initially quite snowy outlook for the next couple of weeks. Still a little uncertain but it does look as if a real winter is on its way to Europe - we will keep you informed, but as always keep an eye on our main Snow Forecasts Page for a quick summary of what's open and what's forecast around the world. Follow the links from that page to see the states of all the resorts in each country - as soon as we get them! Should be some good web cam views next week! |

Welcome to J2Ski Badbrains...
What Rossy said - the Tornado is a superb ski but quite different to the PRs; probably more fun in anything less than a foot of fresh IMO, and definitely the one to pick from those 3. |
