Hemsedal in Norway is one of the highest resorts and also one of the largest. It's highly likely to be decently cold but also likely that there will have been minimal slow coverage by late November/ early December. We've skied Hemsedal over Christmas and only half of the runs were open. personally i would go for a high resort in the alps.
We usually spend around £1,250 to £1.500 pp all in, whether peak or off peak (off peak means we go for higher star accommodation)
Skiing over Christmas or New Year

We've done both weeks in Val d'Isere and also Norway (Hemsedal).

For VDI, I can't really recall a great deal of difference between the two weeks. Both were busy but not too busy. Lots of festive things going on including fireworks and torch lit evening descents. Definitely have to book for meals out although that wasn't too much of an issue for us as we were in catered chalets.

Money no object, I'd much rather be in the mountains than at home over the festive period! We're off to Zermatt this coming winter.
Tignes 1st week in December

Has anyone skied Tignes in the first week of December?

We're toying with the idea of a early season week with the emphasis on technique etc so would be looking to have lessons every day. We've skied the glacier in summer so know what to expect as a bare minimum but are we likely to be able to ski down into Val Claret? I'm not too concerned about the link over to Val d'Isere but would like to think that there would more open than just the summer skiing area.

We wouldn't want to go any later than 1st Dec (and would even consider 24th Nov) as we are skiing over New Year and would want to have at least a 3 or 4 week gap between the two holidays.

Cheers!
2015 where are you going?

We're counting down the days to our Zermatt trip for New Year. Really looking forward to going back again.

2nd trip not booked but likely to be early Feb. On the possible list - Lech, Ischgl, 3V, Dolomites

3rd trip - maybe a late deal around Easter depending on snow conditions. Possibly Val d'Isere or maybe Val Thorens
You need to book your flights the day they are released. We're flying with Easyjet to Geneva for the New Year week for £600 for a family of 4 incl luggage and seat allocations. The price has increased a lot since then. It's just capitalism at work - supply and demand and all that....
Come on Ally, about time you fired up the new schedule for 14/15!!

1st hol booked - Zermatt Sat 27th Dec for 1 week.

I might get three trips in next year. 3 Valleys or Espace Killy later in the season and hopefully somewhere in Austria in early Feb (Lech looking good at the moment).

Looking at the Perisher webcams, I think the 'skiing' will be somewhat limited. In fact about as much skiing as you would get in a fridge here.
