Indeed, Ally ! Sleeping on the floor wouldn't really be what you'd be wanting to look forward to for the next 18 months ! If the resort of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis in Austria was on your list, I'd recommend this chalet / appartement house, as it was pretty swish last year(sauna etc) and did have proper twin beds !

Well, I suppose if the beds really don't come apart into two singles you could always put one of the mattresses on the floor.
December skiing

I skied Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis the first week they were open in December last year. It wasn'deep snow from top to bottom, the odd rock showing through on the unpisted slopes etc, but plenty for most purposes. A nice resort actually; much favoured by locals.

Don't want to stray into off-topic subjects, but thanks to Bandit, Ally and Old Andy for your comments re my car breakdown en route to Tignes a few weeks ago. Trip couldn't happen as a result, but on the plus side we did visit the snow dome in MK a couple of times to make up for it !

Hi Bandit

A friend of mine has been a few times to Laxx, which he says is ski in ski out (or at least I seem to recall that is what he said). What would be your opinion of that resort for the J2S group ?

By the way, just picked up on this excellently entertaining thread after my recent proposed first week of May trip to Tignes was curtailed by an engine blow-out on the M26 en route to the Channel Tunnel ....

Those pairs, I like the sound of, vsb :)
A tad severe Tony ?

My view on this, for what it's worth, which may be next to nothing but never mind, is that skiing is a leisure (not leisurely, but leisure) activity, it's done by most of us for fun, and for many, dressing up to "look the part" is all part of the package. A bit similar to going out to a club: yes, you can dance just as well in jeans and trainers, but many like to try and look stylish, sexy, eye-catching or whatever. It's just another element that many enjoy about the whole thing. A bit like food: yes, we could all make our own sandwiches and eat them sitting at the side of the piste with a bottle of pop, but for many, sitting on a mountain terrace with kaiserschmarrn or Tyroler gruestli and gluhwein is all part of the fun. So, each to their own. Not a very original thought, perhaps, but nonetheless relevant, imho.
