I had an exciting morning out yesterday. The day arrived - the day to buy new ski boots
I went to see Graham Pugh at Rivington Alpine near Bolton. He has done some re-fitting work for me in the past and also sold a pair to my OH last year - it made sense to go back. The problems I have is that I have had tendonitis in the past and also plantar facisiatis - very painful and the former can affect the fitting of a ski boot. I also have a hammer big toe that sticks up and the top of my foot is very high. I also only have size 7.5 feet that are very narrow. Consequently all of that means the standard recreational ski boots are no good - even the narrow ones are too wide  After 3 hours of trying on numerous pairs stand up, sit down, flex, sit down, walk around the shop. Heat them up, cool them down...... I came away with a pair of Rossignol Radical 25.5 97mm http://www.rossignol.com/GB/GB/radical-world-cup-si-130--2013--RB21010--product--.html I took with me my insoles that Graham made for me last year and he re-used them. Many places would have said I needed a new set. A fun morning out. I am now sitting here in my ski boots bedding them in having been told that if need be I can go back - the plastic inner bottom of the Left boot may need grinding down if I am getting pressure points with the high part of my foot. All in all, if you want a great bootfitter, I can certainly recommend Graham Pugh and the guys for a fantastic service :D They also hire ski clothes, ski, boots, roof box - sorry for the advert ;) |
