London's Most Prestigious HeliSki Information Event
Thursday 3rd November 2011 - Andaz Hyatt Hotel, Liverpool Street
Following the success in 2010 of the world's first consumer HeliSki Show, the team at Total HeliSki will host the 2011 event at the 5-Star Andaz Hyatt Hotel near Liverpool Street Station from 6.00pm on Thursday, 3rd November. Tickets are priced at £25 and can be purchased online at www.amiando.com/heliskishow. Space at this select event is limited and expected to sell out fast, so register early to avoid disappointment. The Total HeliSki Show is designed to showcase the world's most exhilarating ski and board experience - at specialist locations around the world. Powder skiing and boarding enthusiasts can expect a wealth of information via animated talks, spectacular film footage, and advanced heli-ski equipment advice from industry leaders such as Salomon, Arcteryx and Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports. There will also be a chance to meet experts and prominent winter sports athletes from Total HeliSki's 'HeliSki with Legends' programme. The Total HeliSki London Show will demonstrate how small group heli-skiing is growing in popularity (over large groups), and will highlight some of the best niche locations in the world. Heli-skiing is not the preserve only of expert skiers. Total HeliSki founder and CEO, Hayley Melidonis comments:

I have it on good authority (I made it up myself) that going on Wednesday and/or Thursday is required this year.

Or you could just click the link in the menu to the lift... But you're right, plenty of resorts to choose from and you might turn up some hidden gems where the TOs don't go. |

Yes. No question. Having your own boots that fit you right and suit your ability and aspirations as a skier is the best, most important (and should be the first) investment in kit you can make. Do as much research as you can. The ski mags at this time of year almost always have some articles on choosing and buying boots; read them all! Do a search on here - we've had quite a few discussions of boots in the past. If you have a local ski shop with a good reputation then go and see them for a chat. As Swiss Tony would say, "buying ski boots is very much like making love to a beautiful woman; take your time, get it right and the love affair will last forever... or until your boots fall off... Do it in a hurry and you're in for a world of pain." 8) How much skiing have you done so far? |

Well folks, here we go again... :D
This, the first of our Weekly Snow round-ups for the Northern Hemisphere's ski season, opens with good news... A period of unusually warm weather in The Alps is about to come to an abrupt end. Winter has already teased us with early snows in the mountains of Europe and North America, and tomorrow she looks set to really make her presence felt! European Weather and Snow This Coming Week A wide area stretching across the Northern French Alps, through much of Switzerland and across to the East in Austria, will see temperatures fall by 15 degrees C, pretty much overnight. Snow is expected to be quite widespread across this region with local accumulations anywhere from 10cm to 50cm over the next few days. Temperatures may moderate a little early next week but in the meantime (especially tomorrow, Friday) it will be cold enough to bring heavy snow down towards 1,500 metres in the East and lighter snows to around 1,500 metres in affected parts of France, Italy and Switzerland. The snow is unlikely to extend to the South of the Central Alps, and will be heaviest to the East and North, but it's an encouraging beginning and will see the mountains looking very wintry. More Choice, More Control Today we rolled out the first of a series of improvements to our Snow Mails. You can now :- - Choose up to Four Ski Resorts (previously 2) to include in your eMail. - Select from over 1,000 resorts worldwide (previously around 500). - Specify a minimum amount of snow to trigger your Powder Alarms. - Get a summary update (by email) at regular intervals, daily if you really want! To configure your Snow Mails, just login to J2Ski and select Your Profile. We plan to start the Daily Updates early next week. Bring It On! 8) |

We've just pushed up an updated that increases the number of resorts available to 750, including almost all of those requested above.
Please see Enhancements to the Snow Mails for further detail. We know there are a few more locations that people would like and we hope to add additional resorts later in the season. If there is a ski resort missing that you really can't do without, then Begging and Bribery are worth trying... |
