Chairlifts can be lonely places. Especially when there is a blizzard and you cant even speak!

Sounds great that Dan-o, very much relects my experience while I was there also.
With regard to Orelle, I went there because the highest point of the 3 valleys is in that area - 3200m. Like you quite rightly say, there is not much there - the red that drops into the valley is challenging in places to say the least. The black into Orelle from the top of Cime Caron is fun :D Re Meribel. We went there twice. First time did the lac de la chambre route followed by the blue ours into Meribel. Ours is painfully flat through the woods. The 2nd time we got to Plans De Mains, went up that chair and skied a great red down into Meribel (monterat) We did not make it to courcheval, but have been there before and know the run you are on about  |

I wear medium socks and get on very well with them. They have Left & Right written on them. Not sure if that is really that necessary??
At least teh emergency services will know where to put my legs should i have a bad accident  |

I red this as "change your feet every year". I had to read it 4 times!! I am with you Nelly! I too have tube sock There are many similarities in ski boots to hiking boots. To keep feet warm & comfortable everything is the same. Look after your hiking boots and they will look after you!! My hiking boots are 13 years old and still going strong!! My ski boots are 8 years old and the same stands for them. Slighty off topic, sorry :) |

Well, this is a dangerous topic. I have started something similar in the past and been told that it seems stupid to listen to music and lose one of the most important senses etc etc.
However, I do listen to music while skiing. When I went away last week I generally did not have it blaring out, but nice and chilled in teh background. I am not going to publish my playlist as it is long and varied - i.e press play and see what comes next :) One story from Val T last week though is, I was about to start a very steep black, turned on teh tunes and off I went. Just as I started getting into the run a new song came on.... "Club Tropicana drinks are free, fun and sunshine there's enough for everyone..." Yes, Wham came on  I was skiing, singing cheesy pop - no one around me knew ;) |
