It's a news item picked up by our news editor, that's all.

I suspect most of our readers won't be taking the title literally...

And for those of our readers not interested in reading any more about helmets; there's a nice big clue in the title.

Safety technology will evolve, new evidence and stats will emerge, and people's opinions will change. Helmets will be a subject of discussion for the foreseeable future. Deal with it.

If a particular topic doesn't interest you... then don't bother reading it! Simples, as you and the meerkats like to say.

Anyway, back on topic please...

I know I'll be skiing for as long as I keep breathing!

Admin Junior and I were passed, in a steep Black mogul field yesterday afternoon, by two gentlemen who both appeared to be well into their 70s... skiing fluid, perfect lines at a pace I doubt I could have managed in my 20s. Age is no obstacle, just a state of mind.

Some of you really need to have words with yourselves, seriously... the only remotely negative thing connected with skiing is... whatever stops you from doing it!

That's what the Tourist Office are reporting...

Yep.

Their POV (common to all smaller villages that are part of a larger domain - and not entirely unreasonable) is that those snow depths are easily accessible by lift from their village.

Of course, looking to the future, J2SkyNet will employ a network of satellites to remotely sense snow-depths from space. To give ourselves more ski time, we're thinking that J2SkyNet will be most effective if it can operate without human intervention - "self-aware" if you like... what could possibly go wrong?

Hold those thoughts! Sounds like you've raised your game this season so bask in your own glory, chill for a while (2 or even 3 days!) and then set yourself some fitness goals for next season... it'll be here sooner than you think!

...but are you absolutely sure you can't squeeze in one more wafer-thin trip?

If not then see the above.
Kicking bindings.

No... I'm with you on this. Bindings are one of the critical parts of your kit, and I was taught not to do this (many years ago).

Each to their own I guess but if you kick the snow / ice off using the binding then some of it ends up back under your boot (exactly where you don't want it) anyway!

I just whack the underside of my boot with a pole... but I guess kicking the binding will be easier if, er, your leg doesn't bend at the knee? :?: 8)
