Not that bad. However, if you are a pale ale drinking country bumpkin I can see why you think anything over £2 is expensive. For a fiver you would expect a meal for you and the dog and a drink ;)

Balls to £5 a pint in the UK.
I pay £2.30 at weatherspoons a rather tasty hobgoblin. Im fast going off the lagers.

I'm there again in January, so I'll provide some current costs then.

Well that depends if you are comparing to other resorts or to what most civilised brits consider to be normal or being ripped off.

In France you are ALWAYS going to be fleeced, you have to just accept it and budget for it.

Beers are in the region of 6 euros a pint. Could be a euro either side of that depending on the bar itself.
Supermarkets are more expensive than the UK or valley towns but not rediculously so.
Food on the mountain and in the village i found to be comparable. A burger and chips will probably be around 10 euro take away, maybe 15 to sit down at a posh table. Resurants in the village i think you need to set aside around 30 euro a head for a nice evening meal with wine/drink.

We have skied ADH at xmas but wouldn't go again at that time of year. We felt that we missed out on xmas as it just seemed like a normal day there.
Just think how much safer the passengers on MH17 must have been knowing that everyone's iPhones had enough battery power to be switched on at customs.
Where to for March weekend 2015?

I stayed here on a 3 day jolly, lovely and slope side in morzine.

But having booked Les Gets then morzine might not be on your radar.
Personally i would probably look to Chamonix. Short and plentiful transfers and tons of hotels.
