Pablo - I'm on a train to London! Been delayed by 2 hours. Arrive about 1130 just gonna go and camp it out at stansted. Have a sister in town but could only stop by for 3/4 hours. A hotel sounds like a good shot maybe an internet cafe.

Andy - will do! I'll need to get online somewhere and update this thread which I have sort of hijacked.

Pablo, I've looked there thanks, couldnt see what I hoped for - Altibus doesnt do Chambery to ADH.

What I have found is: http://www.tourism-oisans.com/info-mountain-344.html which seems to say you can get a taxi from Chambery airport to the bus station, and then a bus to Grenoble bus station. Should be easy enough from there...

I spoke to skiworld, who won't sell me flight and transfers without accom...BUT ...they said speak 2 the rep at Chambery and IF there are spare seats they can sell us them :)

Also spoke to the airline, snowjet, who said there are 12 seats left on the plane which can be bought.

The flight is due to go ahead tomorrow and if there's any update it will appear on the websites at 6pm.

I think I'll wait till later, check weather forecasts for Chambery (and the airlines websites for updates), and if it looks ok book (and hope there's space on the coach!)

Currently on the way 2 london on the train. What a day this has been.

Sami,
I have never been to Alpe d'Huez, but I would rather think there's a scheduled bus service to it from Chambery airport. We have used the Altibus bus service to get to other resorts, and you have to book more than 7 days before to get confirmed seats and tickets, but you can also book at their office in the station/airport once you're there. Hopefully there is a similar system at Chambery airport, so that if you end up there and there's no space on the chartered coach you can go on the bus.

Best of luck :D.

I think if it was me, and I could afford it, I'd buy the extra plane tickets just in case. How much do they cost?

Ally

Thanks!

The extra flights are £99.99 per person  but compare that to potentially missing a days skiing and having to spend another night in London...I can afford it at a push, these holidays are never cheap eh?

Thanks Tony.

Its not IF I'll get there, but WHEN  Would be nice to arrive at some point on Saturday though  I'll need to get you guys a beer for all the words of wisdom.

So, I've looked at a few weather forecasts for Chambery and its saying less than an inch of snow, so I hope they can cope with that?!?!?

Im gonna settle at my sisters when I reach London and pretty certain on booking the snowjet flights. The only thing is, if theres no space on the skiworld ADH coach, how to get there? I cant find anything straight forward on the net. Any ideas?

My attitude is simple, if they are sufficiently cheap or convenient to override the irritations involved (e.g the constant marketing of cigarette replacements, scratch cards, etc on flights, the sometimes rude and unhelpful staff, risk of being left stranded, having to reject the "optional" travel insurance about 5 times when making a booking, etc), then go for it.

Cant fault the logic, but when you look at the looooooooong list of 'cons', the small number of 'pros' must be something special to cancel them out.

Their ethics are questionable, but their buisiness model is flawless.

Personally in the future I will probably avoid where possible.

Andy hulls flight with snowjet which I preume is ZT2761 8.10am to chambery is looking good to go. There are seats available.

Sorry for all the questions but is this a chartered flight? I'm sure we can get to ADH from Chambery so perhaps this is a good bet? To be honest, if this is a sure bet id be happier with the security of knowing it should be ok, even if the ryanair flight ends up going without me and me loosing money. Getting a little desperate.

Thoughts?
