thank you everyone,

Ally, I want to get my own life back - all my hopes dreams and aspirations were hers, lost most of my hobbies and stopped seeing alot of friends. The relationship consumed me totally so I feel like I barely have a life worth living without her. I gave her everything and myself nothing - Im going to go home and work on ME who I have been neglecting - my health, hobbies, interests, aspirations, dreams, friends.

That is the only positive - sorting myself out. I just wish I didnt have to do it without her.

RoseR, Im afraid it doesnt look like we can work it out. She is 26 and been in consuming and dependant relationships since she was 17 and now that I have helped her become strong and independant she wants a shot at living her life without depending on me and being in a relationship. just to be selfish and do what SHE wants. I can understand in a way but she is throwing so much away as our relationship has been amazing until recently.

Things have been on the decline with us for a few months now and although I dont want to spit up I do need some of my own time to focus on me, so does she. She doesnt know what she wants but doesnt want to be involved with anyone right now - and Im afraid when she realises what she wants it wont be me.

jastem, thank you. I have been on the phone to my mum for hours since this has happened and to be honest when your life is devastated like this knowing you have people who care about you is one of the only reasons for caring about living.

Getting back on topic, its been snowing in ADH for about the last 12 hours - looks like a good few inches. Im going back to sleep for a bit, so I can forget about everything, but will probably take a quick slide later before returning the skis as it looks like we are flying home tomorrow.

At this time I dont really feel that I can enjoy the rest of the week. I dont want to be here alone, would just like to get home, see my family and friends.

Im trying to arrange flights for both of us - like Ive said, its not so enjoyable at the moment. I did the tunnel today and even though it was the most challenging thing Ive done on skis it didnt really take my mind off her. The problem is, at the moment I dont have much else going on in my life. I want to get home and work on doing more, have more hobbies, see my friends more etc because in the last few years Ive spent the majority of my time with her (the longest we have ever been apart is 3 or 4 days - edit - 2 nights!).

There has been hints of problems with us, but we have had other stresses in our lives with jobs and money and other things, so I attributed the down turn in our relationship to those things. I thought in time things would settle and improve.

Appreciate all the comments

Wow

there is something jinxed about this forum/week/resort

why do i say that?

Monday night - having dinner in a restraunt - my girlfriend of 4.5 years tells me she has decided she isnt happy in our relationship and wants to be alone

after our 2nd day of skiing

torture in pardise - the sun is out and theres not a cloud in the sky

did sarenne yesterday - lovely. took about an hour with a few stops. did the tunnel today - oh my god. This is only my 2nd week of skiing, but I learnt fast. Despite that, it was the most challenging run Ive attempted. Made it down in one peice but the steeps were full of 2 feet high moguls and polling on the flats gets so tiresom!

so, after all the hassle of getting here Im now trying to arrange flights home!!! how ironic.

I know, tell me about it. The first year I decide to DIY a holiday is the first year a TO would have really been a help. I dont really mind wandering around the town trying to find somewhere to buy a lift pass (hehe) but all the panic was ... not fun.

The OH has perked up lol very worn down when we arrived as I was. We only really managed a half day today, went out at 11, by the time we got out on the hill it was about 12.

Its really sunny here?!?! Like...pretty warm. I like.

I made it!!!! :D:D:D:D

What a crazy journey.

1. the train to london was delayed by 2 hours
2. had a small 'domestic'
3. 3 the flight was delayed by 1.5 hours
4. we waited for about 2 hours in chambery looking for a seat on a transfer coach to ADH which we never found
5. managed to get to chambery train station then to grenoble ok, but then the coach to ADH was delayed by nearly 2 hours!!!!! a TGV train was delayed so...we waited for it?

So all in all, left Glasgow at 2pm on Friday, arrived at ADH about 9pm Saturday. Next year Im booking with a TO flying out of Glasgow or Edinburgh!!!

BUT

Its amazing :D

Bluebird day, the sun is out, and the snow is fresh. Boot deep powder on the edge of almost every piste. Just struggling with powder skiing which Ive never tried before, fun, but tiring.

oh man

so Bensbus emailled me to say they spoke to Grenoble last night and they plan to open today!

how ironic after all the stuff Ive done.

Tempted to take the Chambery flight anyway - its earlier and more likely to get me there if anything goes wrong. PLUS - I paid more money for it!!!

What a crazy journey Ive had

Thanks Ally.

I actually have an internet enabled mobile phone so I should be able to show them the email. Ill try and find a printer in an internet cafe at the airport. Plus, when they get my booking reference number all the details will show up on their system so it should be ok.

Sitting in a 24 hour cafe waiting for the replacement bus for the train to stansted. The OH is saying I'm crazy for putting her through this. The bus to the airport is in 3 hours  4.10am to Stansted
