I think i will be going regularly now to keep myself up to standard until i go away again next year.

I may incur the wrath of other members but i really wouldn't bother going before your first trip. We intended to but i thought that it would be good to join a beginners class on the mountain and learn from square one with everyone else.
I was concerned that a basic lesson may give me a slight head start on the class that may frustrate me and i would feel held back.

I didn't know a boot from a binding last monday and now i am comfortable with parallel turns and skiing red runs. I still consider myself very much a beginner even tho my certificate says i am intermediate, i have so much to learn and hope to gain some more experience in the snow dome before next year.

I wouldn't pay out on a taster lesson now. Wait till you get there and enjoy the real thing.

If you are in Stoke then Tamworth would be your closest place.

I used to Skydive quite a bit but packed in when i met the good lady and settled down. Everything since then has been an anti climax apart from the Skiing.
Maybe i will buy myself a mountain bike or just stick with my guitar.....either way its going to be long year........
how important is a powder skirt?

Never fastened mine. I quite liked a bit of cooling snow on me from time to time!

PMSL.....Put ya foot down. Since when does a married guy get to put his foot down? Seriously, what did it cost you??? And i am not talking financially.

You'll find yourself watching webcams anyway, downloading ski dvd's and going to ski shops to do window shopping. What I also do sometimes is go out in the cold for a long walk and then go to a nice warm pub that has a log fire and order a jagermeister. Then sit there thinking about good times had and the good times to come.

I forfeit all my summer holidays now so that I can have more than one ski holiday.

snowb4ndit- i am seriously considering sacking off the summer hols too but with a family its hard as they want their poolside holiday too. Right now i am gutted....heartbroken in fact. I look at my gear, my pics, my blisters, my vids and shed a tear!!!

Looks like its the snow dome for me.
So its my first day home from my first Ski trip and now i am all sad........how do i cope without another trip till next year?
How do all you guys get through the year?

Don't say book another as i can't, i cannot get time off work or afford another full family trip so i have to wait till next Jan at the earliest...boooooo.....i want to cry.
A few pics from Arinsal last week.

I managed to do that in my first hours skiing last Tuesday in ADH. Drew blood, loosened a tooth, and gave myself a thick lip.
Stopped for 10 minutes, bit of a clean up, and back out on it again. No time to waste on minor issues...... )
Still not sure how I managed to do it, although I did hit an icy patch as I was putting ina tight turn before the lift station and somehow my pole bounced back up at me too fast. No harm done, all part of the learning curve!

Glad i am not alone then! I think mine occurred during the double cartwheel!
