But not getting to excited as its only a trip to Tamworth Snowdome.
I figured its gotta be better than no skiing at all.

Hope its able to hit the spot.

Blimey, thats is spooky. That chairlift is quite long and to click at almost the same moment!

They both have the little brown patches on the bump near the foot of the tower.

cool.

For my second 2011 trip i was looking at the easter holidays.
Next year easter falls quite late, 24th April. Will this be a problem for snow in most resorts?
See you all in October

Prior to going, I'd be constantly looking at the snow reports etc and now, well, now I have nothing to look forward to....some people might say that 3 weeks in South Africa at the end of March would be enough to ease the post-ski hols depression but not for me...

I might just have to become a 'more than once a season' skiier...but where to get the money from?!

I am right there with you. I've been back a month now and i am still gutted.I am desperate to hit the slopes again but money, family and work have put the brakes on that.
I am saving heavily now, selling excesses on eBay, planning car boot sales and generally looking at tightening my belt in order to afford at least two separate week long breaks next year.

I have summer hols to book as well but i cannot get into that. I would now much rather save the cash and have another ski hol.

Nope! Doesn't look like it.

Crystals brochure shows that France is normally a Saturday departure but prior to xmas they run monday to monday.
Then they switch back to Sat/Sat from the 8th Jan. This means that the first week in Jan is cut to 5 crappy days!!!

No France for me then. Looks like Andorra (sunday dept) for my Jan trip. May look at france for easter.

You're not serious - first (and IMO best) week in Jan has been cut to 5 days in the brochures? Thats an absolute outrage!!!! How very dare they.

Is this just France, as it stinks of typical French "we are not working on XXXX days..." attitude?

Gotta say Tony that my first instict was to blame the french, why wouldnt we??

But i think it is more likely that it is the TO's that are doing this so people can have a full week over xmas or new year. I know i would prefer monday to monday and not have to travel on xmas day.
Christmas week is a big money spinner for them is it not?
I think that it would be better though if they did this just over xmas and not carry it too new year.

It seems to be just the destinations that involve saturday flights, france and austria.
Andorra and Italy, sunday departures seem unaffected

Eljay wrote:can you not do-it-yourself, rather than a package deal...............or are there no flights out at all on New Years Day?

Maybe, but as this is only going to be our second trip i like the idea of having all my eggs in one basket and being looked after until i know what i am doing!
