"single clip rear entry boots" old school. Still were good enough for the legends in the fist ski movies I watched so why not :-).
Am also sure that the benefits of a stiff ski boot are overhyped. Have only used my touring boots offpiste and can't say have ever noticed any difference despite being super light and missing a buckle. |

SB: "If they are comfortable in the shop they will very often be too big"
Couldn't agree more! If you boots of comfortable for the first few days then am afraid they are too big. The reality is boot fitting is an exercise in pain management. Then you need to tough it out for min 5 days before you start doing anything drastic like making more space. One advantage of buying in your home country is that you can start to pack the liner out at home, although you will obviously look and feel ridiculous. |

Do tell more, have never really heard a bad thing about the resort before. |

What Macca says is very similar to the advice given by the sports physio I used in Chamonix post reconstruction. Neoprene braces can actually help proprioception but no brace will save you from an awkward fall. Undoubtedly lots of weights in the gym combined ski specific proprioception exercises is your greatest protection.
That said am sure if it happens again I will be reaching for the belts and braces approach. |

There is definitely a lot more acceptance of the usefulness of knee braces now. Notably from the US ski team who have go from non believers to Don Joy sponsoring Lindsey Vonn. Guess that says it all, if you can afford and feel need Don Joy is probably the way to go.

We are all still aligning on the need / benefits of a helmet . As for back protection I don't know of any recreational skiers who wear them. Lower limb or clavicle injuries being far more common. A lot of boarding friends wear protection for their coxis, concensus being that something that is correct for your body length is greatest consideration, ventilation/ breathability being a close second. I guess if you can get something that ticks those and you are skiing big then is probably worth a shot.

I guess a chalet is probably the easiest way to meet people although perhaps you are overthinking. Most resorts are full of people who are happy to share a run, beer, coffee, dinner.
In general I hate the faff/messing about involved with skiing with other people hence a good proportion of skiing will be done alone. As for PT is actually not the worst but a very unremarkable ski resort. Not exactly pumping at night but then again the big resorts full of big British groups e.g. 3V are probably no that easy to meet people either. |
