Credit crunch affects us a bit, well not me people will always need medicines, but Hubby self employed with his own glazing business. People have not been replacing their windows or conservatory's as much. Not to bothered about summer holidays we live by the sea any-way. We will never give up our winter hols, we would give up a lot to be able to do those. Have just had an enforced 3 weeks off work recovering from an unexpected op, so have had 3 weeks lazing around.
I think when I go to Ruka next year I will have to get used to a few different foods. I think mainly reindeer, bear, rabbit and hare.
There is a butchers shop in Bridport Dorset that makes special sausages. Every time my husband went through Bridport he bought some. I have had crocodile sausages, ostrich sausages I was not impressed and asked him not to bother any-more I dreaded to think what else I was going to get

Try Seefeld austria, try the Alpina hotel they are 2 mins away from ski-school and nursery slopes. If you book through Crystal or Inghams I think kids go free at the hotel. Alpina is fantastic the food and the service is fantastic drinks are free all through dinner.

We normally go to Austria about January time, its cold but not that cold and often when the sun is out we dont even bother with gloves or thermals come to that, except may-be for evening excursions. Next year we have booked for Ruka/Finland where I know it will be cold sometimes -30. I have been been reading on a lot of sites about traveller revues and they are all favourable but all mention the cold. A lot of people mention 'dont forget really warm clothing and silk liners'. I am probably being dumb... again but what are they. Are they glove liners, boot liners, or under thermals liners. Perhaps any-one knows and if so where do I get them. We have pre-booked thermal suits and boots for snow safari excursions and night time excursions across the russian border, cos we know it will be freezing. Hope all these suits are not the same I do like to stand out in my ski Attire
