Jeeez
Do your family know just how lucky they are to be off skiing? Just going slightly off topic for 2 minutes: I was thinking about the price of ski holidays the other day. At one time they were the holiday for the well off (probably back in late 80/early 90). They then became more affordable. However I think they are in danger of approaching that, "holiday for the well off." Especially for those with a family. |

Where? Off to search Google in the meantime ;) |

I would like to venture outside France in 2013, suppose it depends on what I can get for £800 - £1,000 all in.
I am getting the impression after reading a lot of threads on here that the answer will be, "a lot!!" |

I never got round to Courcheval and Meribel (proper) this season ;)
I think it was Monterat that I paid €20 for a bowl of onion soup  But then skiing is not a budget holiday break  |

SmartSki I think you have covered off everything I did when I was there. I stayed in VT, got as far as monterat and thought it was a great place.
Your "challenge". I pretty much did that - but staying in VT obviously ommitted the first bit. It is a great route. The part in Orelle you refer to as being the highest that day, is in fact the highest peak in the 3 Valleys. You can also get there via a black over the back of Cime Caron :) I did the Tete rond & Christine on a day that sounds similar to yours - cant see the next poleon the piste,or in fact even the sides of the piste. In places it was a bit scary  We actually headed over to Les Menuires that day as it seemed a bit sunnier over there I was lucky and had 5 days of blue sky. We did consider looking an monterat next season. Is it pricey? I had lunch there a couple of days (at the bottom of the blue "ours") and it cost be a fair few quid! |

I have always thought that it looks like a good chilled job up there at night. Bet they see some sights!

When I was in my early days of skiing we went to ellmau. Great little resort in ski welt. We stayed in a small, 4 bed, pension. Really homely
I just wish that kind of thing could be replicated in the big resorts in France Great when you find places like that! |
