Up here in Scotland we don't get these things such as the chill factor - we do get freestyle nights in the Xscape in Braehead however and I've had a number of freestyle coaching sessions - The instructor I had is fantastic - Made me really confident with rails and I can do them with ease now, feels great to be able to do it! I'm sure the price was 2 and half hours of coached session for £35, which isn't too bad.
The chill factor stuff sounds cool mate, hope you have a lot of fun and be careful to not get hurt too badly, eh? :-) I just realised that made no sense - I didn't know the Chill Factor was an indoor ski slope! The Xscape is exactly the same, just a different name ;) Hopefully the rest of that quote will now make more sense than before :-) |

Hey everyone, just from having a little browse through the topics on these forums i've noticed that quite a lot of you go to Niederau.
Was just wondering what the big obsession is? :-) I'm not judging - Just wanting to know what's so good.. If it's THAT good then I might end up there myself sometime and become one of you! :D |

I second that! That first goggle tan is steezy. When you come back from your holiday all of your friends will say "How did you get such a tan in the mountains?!" They won't understand, but it's because you're so much closer to the sun - so on that note, you might want to add suncream to your list ;) Have a great time mate, I hope you enjoy it - It's a great sport. I would be jealous, but i'm going to Alpe D'Huez in 17 days :D |

Hope you have a great time, John!
I'm heading to Alpe D'Huez on the 24th of this month - Can't wait! Can you give me a verdict when you're back? :-) Cheers! Have a great holiday! |

I agree that watching videos can help your ski technique, I've been doing that for a while and I visualise the video and try it on skis and before you know it, you've got it down right! :) I haven't watched this video myself so don't really know if it's useful (I'm in college just now and the internet is filtered to disable video plug-ins etc) - The title is "Learn to ski (Chapter 4 - From Wedge to Parallel Skiing)" (My apologies if such links aren't allowed to be posted!) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1nlhcYhTEgg Happy skiing :!: |

Don't you worry Ian, the holiday will be immense and I won't be doing anything crazy :-) Piste skiing is a lot of fun on its own with a little off-piste action too!

Of course, I have started small :-) I hear there is one park for beginners and one for experts - I'll be lingering around the beginner park.. Hurting yourself gets you nowhere is what I've learned  Night time skiing does sound pretty cool, I seen an image of it featured on the Alpe D'Huez website; http://www.alpedhueznet.com/popup.php?filename=image_uploader/photos/large/adh-night-skiing-slope.jpg&pic_height=333 Pretty limited like you said, but can't judge it until you've tried it at least.. The good thing about it is the price is included in the lift pass so no extra cost :-) Still unhappy about the prices of lift passes mind you, but we can't do anything about it  |

Thanks IceGhost! :-)
Have many people been to Alpe D'Huez? :-) I'm booked up to go on the 24th of this month - Can't wait! I read that there are two snowparks (anyone know if they're any good?) And also they have a flood-lit slope for night time skiing - I've always wanted to try this, anyone ever done it? How was it? :-) Cheers! |
