I wont need quite so much for next year, it will be the first time self catering, and the log cabin has washing machine and drying room, wheras usually hotel that requires dressing for dinner. So should not be so bad. No hubby does not carry my case, his is always to heavy with half of my clothes as well. |

Oh I have excess luggage sorted, half my stuff goes in Hubby's case, he takes bare minimum. Plus I get on a plane looking like the michelin man, I wear so much stuff. Mind you I have been glad to have had so much stuff on a couple of times, twice there has been a backlog of passengers at Innsbruck and we have had to wait outside on the tarmac, I have been the only one who stays warm  |

Yes I started off with shorts and T shirt, just 'cos its summer bank holiday, that did,nt last long. Now its jumper and jeans. Was going out for a long walk along the beach, its pouring with rain again, so I cant be bothered. Over the last two days leaves are falling off the trees, I think of it as Autumn already. |

Wow Pavelski what an amazing woman your mother in law must have been. Ski-ing at 80, well done to her.
I have always been proud of my achivements how ever small. The one achievment I am most proud of is qualifying as a Pharmacist. I left school at 15, no exams, no qualifications, nothing. I got married very young and turned out to be the biggest mistake of my life. 20 odd years of hell. On my 40th birthday I decided I had to leave but could not afford it, could not face going it alone my wages as a pharmacy technician would not have been able to support me and my son. So I went to night school 3 nights a week, got Alevel maths, chemistry and biology. Get accepted to Uni, and started a four year course in Pharmacy. I was at uni, four days a week, and worked the other three. I told no-body what I was doing, ex hubby assumed we were just not so well off, work assumed I had just cut my hours. My books were hidden in my car and I studied when every-one was asleep. I survived, passed, got my first Pharmacist job and walked out. I moved away, my son at 16 stayed with his Father but saw a lot of me. I met my now Hubby, we have bought several houses as building projects and sold them on. So here I am at 53, have a brilliant husband of 8 years, a lovely big house and garden, drive a nice car, have just got another promotion at work. Can afford ski holidays and now have the courage to try any-thing I set my mind to. Life is 100% perfect, its been hard work but well worth it. |

Karen, most of my experience has been in Austria, mid January and it has not been cold. Most times while out walking or hiking our jackets are wrapped around our waist, gloves and hats in pockets. Have only found it cold doing activities in the evening.
Although next year we are off to Finland where I know it will be a lot colder, so have pre-booked thermal buits and suits. Also have invested in some silk sock and glove liners, and silk thermals. Beacuse the light will fade about 3pm and every-where will then be floodlit until about 10.30pm we will be able to ski until a lot later, when I suspect it will also be a lot colder. Have also pr-booked some night-time snow mobile safaris across russian border and to see northern lights. |

Dave Mac, I wont let my hubby see your reply, he is desperate to train dogs or to even have some of his own. I have always been against it, I dont think we could dedicate the time needed.
