Very tempted by some new skis in an online sale and still have the money that I didn't spend on the chav's skiwear brand of choice for some new clobber!

Sorry to correct you, Dave, but Sports Direct do sell ski equipment (http://www.sportsdirect.com/skiing/skis).

I was quite amused to see they list skis under 'accessories'!

Someone on here once described Sports Direct as a 'jumble sale'; I think that's about right!

Calm down, Tone!

My criticism of the North Face was based on a recent trip to one of their own 'flagship stores' with the intention of buying a new jacket and trousers. There was an extensive range but, universally, the cut/designs were uninspiring, colours satisfactory but poorly finished, leaving me with little confidence they would endure. I later looked at Columbia, similar price better build quality. (Didn't buy anything in the end!)

Oh and on the last charter flight I took from Bristol Airport a couple of seasons ago, more than half of the punters were wearing North Face - how common! :) (That last bit was a joke!!!)

Off to the gym now, wearing my 'vintage' North Face shell!

PS - 'dissing'? As we trendy people say, LOL! :D
As I said before, I thought you'd like it and glad you did. I really liked the place as well. No real need for German language skills as English is spoken everywhere despite limited numbers of UK clients in town. As you say, research is essential. I would avoid the Giggijoch end of town and either stay at Innerwald or out at Zwieselstein, like I did. I'm determined to return and would definitely like to make it to the remote resort of Vent, which is reputed to have the very best off-piste in the valley.

We'll just have to differ in our opinions then; I wanted a new jacket and trousers, was prepared to pay a fair bit for them but was left very disappointed by the North Face's 'build quality'. Couldn't see their latest offerings lasting half as long as the shell jacket. That's not snooty, just an honest opinion based on 40+ years of ski trips!
