IIRC the high slopes at Crans are mostly XC skiing. Sierre below the station is the sunniest place in Switzerland and Crans is south facing, it was awful conditions for the whole season last year, strips of cannon snow in grass.
I'd actually be surprised if Crans expect to be open after April 6th really, Easter is back on 23rd March and I'd have expected them to be shut by April 6th. You might want to check with the tourist office. |

Not quite as steep but this is good :
http://www.zapiks.com/Red-Bull-Hike-and-Ride-Switz.html This won the red bull hike and ride film comp' last year and is shot round Grimentz and Zinal. It also nicely catches the "main road" up the valley :D blog from George Nimeh (organiser) blog from me |

Impressive, all the more so that it's on a board as well, we used to reckon much beyond 60' on skis and it was hard to hold an edge and boards were supposed to hit a limit sooner.
The top looks insane, the chute looks pretty good fun though :D He must have spent some time planning that line and visualising, it's just perfect, about 100 times better than the (barely) controlled falls that pass for extreme skiing on some videos. |

these are "motion" system components and don't require drilling or jigs? in which case fitting them is trivial and needs no more tools than a flat screwdriver, but the adjustment Pavel mentions is the difficulty.
better to get the local store to do it. |

microclimates in this context are a complete myth, just rubbish made up by tourist offices and holiday companies and repeated too often when people don't understand the geography of the alpes.
Les Gets is around 40km from Mt Blanc, no closer than 60 or other ski stations including, for example, Verbier or La Plagne. There's no reason whatsoever to assume being 40km from mt blanc confers fantastic snowfalls, in fact, try doing the reverse, name say a dozen ski stations in the french/swiss/italian alpes that are further than 40 or 50 km from a 4000m peak. This myth perpetuates in part because most people don't get out between ski stations hiking or touring and are confused by where roads and tunnels are as to the actual distances between places. I'm not a meteorologist but I'm not even sure the use of the term microclimate is anything like correct in this context either. |

Yes, you did in English as we actually speak it, I think if you read it back you can see that.
don't sweat it, the odds if him/her reading both J2Ski and First Tracks Online are fairly small :D |
