I don't know, sometimes I think we do tiny little turns more to impress other people than for our own enjoyment or just because we think we're supposed to :D

I'm sure that there is some truth in that :D

Sometimes I think I'm having so much fun I don't want the slope to end, the more turns I make the longer it takes to get to the bottom  (sad I know, but I never claimed not to be.)

As I only get to ski a couple of weeks a year these days [still don't know how this happened ) ] there are less and less slopes that I know well enough to want to really fly down, not knowing whats over the next rise - this could also be down to 'getting older' )

None of those stupid tight S turns.....massive fast wide turns, rather like GS turns, down a steep face :D

Well, I guess if you're going to use big fat skis that make it easier you might as well go the whole hog and do the easiest type of turns possible )

Day 5 was a bad boot day for some reason, but I think it was because i was hung over, not really feeling it over at Sonnenkopf, and as a result I had them too tight,

There is nothing that will make your feet swell more than a skin full the night before :D

The train trip from Chamonix to Martigny is worth doing just for the scenery alone -
Skiing between Geneva and Verbier?

Hi Tjpesone

One place that springs to mind would be Leysin, turn off the autoroute at Aigle - That said, I would head straight to Verbier. By the time you get to Leysin or anywhere else, park your car, get a lift ticket etc. I'm not sure how much skiing you will get. Leysin - Verbier is only about 1 hour by car

I really wouldn't bother though, there's a lamentable lack of facilities for advanced skiers, most of the mountain hasn't even got prepared runs :!: There's a whole side of the mountain here where they can't be bothered to prepare it and just claim it's a freeride area (whatever that is)

Thanks Ise, I'll look them up online. Not that I would want to go there of course, un-prepared runs, freeride area - Whats the world coming to?

I know that I posted this link http://vimeo.com/2492092 earlier in this thread but I've just got a chance to watch the whole movie (rather than just bits of it)
There is a very sobering and inspiring interview with Jean- Yves Michellod and lots more shots of his sitski about half way through the movie.

You can buy the dvd here http://www.guidoperrini.com/home.html Half of the profits go to http://www.parasport.ch/

And while I'm plugging Guido's films this is my favourite:

Now, assuming one wanted to visit the area where this movie was shot, which one obviously wouldn't due to factors mentioned above, what hotels would be recommended, hypothetically of course? )

Great Film!

Not sure who filmed it, but Guido Perrini has done a lot of stuff with the Falquet brothers.
In my early days in Verbier he was a ski bum with a 16mm camera, these days he makes some awesome movies.
