I dont know about Getting fit for skiing but for me I think skiing gets me fit for the rest of the year. Normally I find it difficult to walk for miles in deep soft sand, but to-day we walked miles along the beach, in the sand. I did it so much easier, must have been all that walking in deep snow that made it so much easier for me.

Its certainly cold here  Boiler packed up on Thurs and can not be fixed until Monday. Our only form of heating is an electric fire and the idiots next door doing DIY severed the power cable grrrrrr. So I am wearing my thermals under my clothes, next stop is my hat and boots.

I am a smoker, I know I should'nt but I do. But even I agree that you should not inflict it on others. In Finland you are not allowed to smoke in any accomodation, bar etc or even outside bars and cafes. There is a strategically placed post with an ashtray on for you all to gather round. If you smoke in your log cabins you incur a 150 euros fine. But was really surprised to find a smoking room at Kuusamo airport, helped my flying nerves no end

I probably suggest Seefeld/Austria to any-one who is skiing for the first time. Also fantastic hiking trails and cleared walks for any ability.
