I'm with you Pavel, I treated myself to a spyder skin for my birthday last year and I wear it as a top on skiing holidays and also at home! It's a bit of a comfort blanket :?
Les Arcs or Niederau? please help

Hi Karen

If you really want to go to Les Arcs I would definitely not recommend 1800 for absolute beginners as there's a distinct lack of nursery slope(s). Higher up in 1950 and 2000 would be a better bet as they've got wonderful wide open slopes, it is pricier up there though. Plan Peisley and Vallandry are supposed to be good for beginners too.

If the budget can stretch try esprit, they're a great family company and have got quite a few chalets in les arcs which accommodate all sized families!

Good luck

Thanks Trencher. I think what we'll do is get through next season on skis and then take a trip to the snowdome in the summer, have a lesson and take it from there.

Pavel, I'm already thinking ahead to essential things I must do next summer!

Accommodation Tignes Easter

Our group went to tignes with skiworld last easter and we're going back the 2nd week of next easter. They've got loads of chalets there and a chalet hotel too. I'd recommend them.
Good luck

Hi Trencher

This is a consideration for me, I've always wanted to give it a go, but my specialist said it's particularly hard on the knees while you're learning. Is this right?

Another question. I heard somewhere that it's recommended that kids shouldn't learn to snowboard until they're 13 as it's detrimental to their wrists at a young age. any opinions? I keep promising my boys but I'm delaying...

Thanks Dave. The quads of steel are coming along very nicely! I'm cycling 5 - 10 miles every other day and I've got an induction at the gym on tuesday so I can do the exercises I do in the physio's gym plus some upper body stuff. The pounds I gained whilst immobile are starting to shift too so I'm happy. ROLL ON WINTER :D

Oh, and thanks Bandit for that lovely diversion
I don't know what they're like to learn on but we really enjoy going to the snowdome in mk for a quick fix out of season. [obviously not for me this year though  ]
New Year Skiing

Les Arcs 1800 isn't the most lively or charming ski resort in the world but we wanted a cheap new year getaway last year and managed to get an apartment with crystal for £1700 for the 4 of us.

Obviously we were dubious about the accommodation and resigned ourselves to slumming it but it turned out more than acceptable and the unobstructed view down to moutiers was worth a million dollars!
