Thanks Powderhound you are a star - Do you have any suggestions as to nice long blues as well that I can go on with my daughter. ? By the way Im ok with chair and drag lifts etc its just a confidence issue - my OH and last instructor in Les Gets thought I was quite good actually - I can carve my turns quite easily - (probably the problem as carving doesnt tend to slow you down!) Also are there any greens In La Ros? the piste map doesnt seem to show much and yet it staes there are some. Also do yu think it might be a possiblilty to ski to La Thuille with my little one? and how long would it take ie all day/couple of hours. Thanks for the suggestions on lunch posts by the way Im partial to a bit of vin chaud ( helps with the old confidence funnily enough!)
Yep Pete - Les Gets I thought was nicer than Morzine and as you say when we were there Morzine was pretty green/brown even with the snow we had in LG. As for a resort I loved it - My daughter who was desperate to get back to school is asking when she can go back skiing again mmmmm Having a look at some last min bargains - trouble is Ive allready taken her out of school for the last hols I dont think It would go down well if I did another week - might have to wait for easter and see whats about at very last minute and of course what the conditions are like - If you need another to make up nos for a sneaky w/e give me a shout!
The Arbis run opened up on our last day of skiing - MY OH did it but I stayed with my daughter - we did do violetta which finishes in a bit of a red which she was Ok with apart from at the end of the day and we got a bit tired - mind you I did ski her all the way round morzine and back again so its no wonder she was a bit tired! I want to go again now! Spencers any room for an extra 1???? Glad you both had a great time I would quite happily go again such a lovely resort and loads of different runs and lovely restaurants
Where to go as total Beginners?

Just come back from Les Gets in France - there are some fantastic easy greens and blues along with a further variety for the more experienced skier - We went with Esprit holidays who do childcare as well they use ESF for their lessons -and the benefit of using esprit rather than esf directly is that all the kids in their class will be english the instructors are chosen for their english speaking and to be honest the class sizes are very small - my little girl had 3 others in her class - some classes had only 2 kids in the class - excellent. The chalet - La Chaumiere was lovely albit a bit of a trek from the slopes (610-15 mins) but the resort is lovely their is lots to do apres ski - ice skating and shopping and lovely restaurants and not too expensive as well. We ski'd last yr in Scheffau Austria the instructor was great and had us from total beginners to blue slopes within the week but not much esle their for entertainment. We are probably going to La Rosiere nxt yr as well if that helps. One reccomendation is if you can have a few dry ski lessons before you go - they do help even though skiing on snow is different - (actually easier)
Anyone allready out there should have a great time and anyone going there next week it will be great - Just come back from there had a great deal on the ski passes heavily discounted and only had 2 days of sun the rest was snow snow and snow at the end of our week I think there might have been just one or two blacks closed and that was it - SUPERB - great place for skiing lots of lovely easy blues and greens some nice reds and Im assured some great blacks as well. - The restraurant at Nyon is the best on the mountains Tartiflette/salads fab. What a fab place to go as a family - I would reccomend it big time. - My daughter had ski lessons with ESF 9Via Esprit( and there were only 4 in her group - as a non skier she was coming down the chavannes blue on her 3rd day - progression or what! Have a great time It really is a lovely place and so pretty when the snow is there!

re the medical term - Bonkers I reckon! I know I am - anyway - I have prebooked the les gets local pass with Esprit and will upgrade if and when we have to - I think Ill see what the skiing is like locally and if not enough snow then Bite the bullet and shell out for an upgrade - hopefully it will be Ok - If I were you pete Id wait till in resort and buy it locally its no more expensive and youll be there anyway to see what the conditions are like and the forecast will be more accurate for your week by then. Anyway - up at the crack of dawn for our flight My daughter was just awarded best in her class at the dry ski slope  So we ARE going to have a great time Bye everyone

yes loads of squigly lines for Pete's week - for your info Pete its bound to mean loads of snow I mean with my luck you'll get a metre of snow every night and perfect sunny (cold) days to ski in. Blooming great I just hope the predicted sleet for nxt week is snow really and that the temps get just a tad bit colder next week than predicted either way Im determined to enjoy it even if it means Ill have to drink a few more Vin Chaud than I had anticipated! Heres hoping we both have a great holiday and the snow buckets it down for the next 2 weeks. :-)
