Stayed in Arc 1600 last week of march, and was pleasantly surprised with the prices. After reading so many horror stories about costs in the Tarentaise . Burgers 4 to 7 euro, large beer 3 euro. Also on a positive note didn't queue for a single lift all week,1st time that has happened in 25 years of skiing.Highly recommended. |

You should consider Cortina where 50% of lift passes are bought by non skiers, who want to sunbathe or read newspapers on the many restaurant balconies. This in turn benefits the skiers with empty slopes and no lift queues.

Best to check out when the season ends there, most low lying austrian resorts start shutting towards the end of march beginning of april.

Last time i was in St anton the beer was between 3.8 and 4.3 euro a pint .
On the mountain you could get lunch for say between 7 and 15 euro, but you do recieve good portions for your money. If your a big eater try the famous Mooserwirt apres bar,not after 3pm though for obvious reasons. Its a bit more expensive than some of the other places but the portions are huge. Have not been to Verbier , but its likely to be more expensive than St anton. As posted above the euro rate is going to make a fair bit of difference to the costs this year. We are going to Chamonix for the new year which can get pricey in some places. New years eve in one bar i was paying 13 euro a pint, they doubled the price for that night , robbing barstewards. Anyway id say go for St anton although a bit more expensive than the average austrian resort (10~20%) its well worth it. |
