Icy, I have done quite a bit of research re the single supplement problem. I found the big TO's generally charge for 2 people (even though only one is going) minus about £100 for the cost of the flight. However, if you book the chalet direct with the owners, or use a smaller company, you may be lucky and only have to pay an extra £200 or so for single occupancy. And some chalets actually have single rooms in which case obviously you wouldn't have to pay a supplement at all. |

Thanks very much for the info Snowcrazy :D
We were thinking about Les Arcs (as well as other resorts) for the J2Ski 2014 holiday, and considering areas like Peisey, Vallandry and Nancoix. Have you got a rough idea how much a taxi would cost from Bourg? |

Hi Nelly, I hope you have a good time :D The weather forecast is pretty good for the weekend - sun and 20 degrees C. |

Will there be any ski-ing for you in Iceland when you go? Do they have glaciers there? |

Congratulations Dids, that's great news! He should have a brilliant time in Birmingham. Old Andy - well done to your son too - A Levels AND a job in London :D |

Best of luck to all those parents whose kids are having A Level results tomorrow
I remember from last year how stressful the whole process is both for the kids and the parents. |

I wouldn't give up yet. I just tried going on the Eurostar website and I could buy 3 tickets for the return train you want, and I think it's very likely that those are seats together and there's also a vacant single seat somewhere on that train. If it was me I'd give them a ring as soon as possible and try booking seats in pairs, or a triple and a single (I have had a lot of experience with this!). It seems to be the return that's the problem - the night train is still available for a four, but not the day train. If you go on the night train you get an extra day of ski-ing but it's extremely uncomfortable sitting up all night in the cheap seats (which is why we pay extra now for the more comfortable seats at night). Best of luck! I think the indirect tickets are available at the usual Eurostar interval of something like 100 days ahead. Edit I have just double-checked and you can currently book the normal Eurostar (to Paris for example) up to and including the 6th December (however many days ahead that is). |
