Doing a lot of 1 legs squats throughout day but ultimate strength totally disappeared! Started again lifting 35% on Squat and 40% on Dead Lift, when compared to pre-surgery. Long way still to go and winter is coming fast. Minimum 3.5months to drag body out this hole.

For sure in part conditioning was a contributing factor to injury. No time to lose would be my suggestion for those skiing in Dec-Jan.

Ranchero - it sounds like you've had a pretty rough time. I've forgotten - was this a ski injury and what happened? Best of luck with getting fit again for the coming season :D

BB - I thought you kept yourself fit all year round? Anyway - going out on a mountain bike sounds like pretty good exercise.

My get fit training yesterday was going to a theme park and walking up about a zillion stairs to go down loads of rides - there was practically no queueing because it's out of season now. The roller coaster reminded me a tiny bit of carving really fast, and feeling horribly sick on a little kids ride made me question the wisdom of buying a ticket on the coach for a 3 hour transfer. I think I will see if I can buy one/several of those 'special' bags!

Very witty Brooksy

Well, if Icy's case is closed how about returning to the interesting problem of Snapzzz and his new prospective holiday guest. I wonder what the latest news is on this?

Thanks Dids, next time I'm in town I'll have a look for a case for it - can't have it getting scratched!

Get a decent case though, but that's obvious.
It has a great camera.

Hi Dids,
Case? No-one said anything about a case in the shop. She didn't have one for her Ace. How much does a case cost?

Galaxy s2 is the decision

That is very strange Icy, because a few days ago I bought my daughter the Samsung Galaxy S11 on contract. I have to pay £29-99 for the phone, and then £20-50 pm and for that she gets 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and 500 Mb data each month.

I bought her the Samsung Galaxy Ace last time - in fact that's the phone she used to take the photos of Tignes that I put up on our group holiday thread. - it had a really good camera. But unfortunately it got nicked when she was at uni, so I had to buy her another one, and she chose the S11 which she says is 2 upgrades from the Ace.

I have told her to look after the new one much more carefully. Luckily the last one was covered by our household insurance even though she had it at uni.

The main problem with the Ace was that she had to re-charge it at least once per day - whereas my non internet Nokia phone will last a week. I expect that the S11 will have the same problem.
I bought my bus ticket yesterday to get back from Les Brevieres to Geneva with Altibus/Alpski-bus. It cost me 63 euros one way (about £50) plus whatever my bank has charged me, and I'm catching the 16-20 bus to arrive at Geneva airport at 19-50 for an EasyJet flight leaving at 21-30. The bus is more expensive than the chalet transfer, which only costs £30 each way, but I am ski-ing the final Sunday and the chalet transfer coach leaves at 6-30 a.m. for Geneva.

It will be the first time I've ever skied for 8 days, although I've managed 7 days several times.

Also, the Tignes lift pass website is now open! So, things are really start to wake up and it's getting very exciting. An 8 day adult Tignes and Val d'Isere (Espace Killy) lift pass costs 276 euros (about £220 plus bank charges).

BB - the trouble is that all the resorts I have been to as an adult have been fine for what I wanted at the time. So this is where I have been, in order, with comments:

Borovets - great for the kids when I had no money (couldn't ski though because of my shoulder)
Zell am see - great for my first time back on snow after about 30 years, lovely non frightening resort, mountains not too steep and scary, very nice mountain restaurants
Obergurgl - wonderful luxury hotel for my ill daughter with a fantastic view of the piste, and snow sure in a very bad year.
La Rosiere - went there because hoping to ski with a friend - didn't really like it much but maybe just because the friend decided not to come
Val Thorens - great place to really improve my ski-ing - huge area etc.
Courchevel - went there because had someone with us who wasn't really very keen on ski-ing and I wanted somewhere where there'd be plenty of other stuff for her to do - was very successful - only trouble was we all really, really liked it and it's a very expensive resort
Meribel - now that WAS disappointing when compared with Courchevel - in my opinion Courchevel is about 10 times better.
Tignes - totally fantastic - no criticisms at all - much better than I was expecting.
