Tom,
If you want to come with us you will be very welcome. Don't worry about your age :D I think most of us are over 40 - although, naturally, being skiers and snowboarders we don't feel like it! As Dave said, there are no single rooms in this chalet. However, there is the possibility of using the twin room 1, or the double room 2 (both on the ground floor) as singles, but there would be a single occupancy charge of £200 on top of the basic £399 for the catered accommodation. There is also the possibility of sharing the triple room 14 with Tiger7 who is looking for a male room mate to share with. He says he doesn't mind whether they are a smoker or non-smoker, and he himself counts as a non-smoker because he smokes very rarely. Room number 14 is a triple room on the second floor with a balcony (for which he and any potential room mate will have to pay an extra £20 each on top of the basic £399 for the catered accommodation). Bonjour's room description for room 14 says this: 'A triple, 2nd floor bedroom, on two levels, with an en-suite bathroom with shower. On one floor there is the bathroom, a single bed and French windows leading to the balcony. The mezzanine floor has twin beds. The steep stairs leading to this room make it unsuitable for younger children'
We have now booked 10 rooms but there are still 5 rooms available, which are: Ground floor Room 1 - twin room Room 2 - double room First Floor Room 5 - quad room made up of twin beds and a bunk bed Room 9 - family suite for 4 people in 2 rooms made up of twin beds and a bunk bed. Room 10 - quad room with twin beds and bunk bed and balcony. Apart from the room share with Tiger7 in room 14 the second floor is now full.
If anyone else wants to come with us, ideally Bonjour would prefer to fill rooms 1 (twin) and 2 (double) on the ground floor before accepting only 2 people in their quad rooms. If you would like to join us please either post up on here or send me a pm. |

Congratulations on giving up smoking Cat
And best of luck with the diet :D |

Snapzzz - if your ski goggles are steaming up maybe you should buy some of these - with in-built ventilation fans  http://www.vision3k.com/brands/smith-optics-ski-goggles/phenom-turbo-fan.asp |

Oh yes, so he has, you're quite right. Maybe it's finally stopped snowing in his house? |

Snapzzz - I should think you'll end up contributing at least £300 as I find £100 doesn't go very far on food and drink in a ski resort during the week.
But I do think it's a great idea, and I can see Megan really doing well and gaining a load of confidence. |
|
Thanks for the update Snapzzz :D It sounds like you're going to be seriously out of pocket if she comes, but it is very generous of you. When my older daughter went on a school ski trip ten years ago it was £800 each plus spending money, so Megan's friend is getting a real bargain. Let's hope her parents realize this. |

Bonjour are very generous and welcome guests who want to ski 8 days, like me. They will allow me to arrive in the morning on the first Sunday, change, and leave my luggage whilst I go off ski-ing. And if I get there in time (from Bourg St Maurice) they will even give me breakfast! And ditto for the second Sunday. This is what they say:
All bedrooms must be vacated by 9.30am on departure day. Guests wishing to ski on that day may leave their bags until 4.15pm at the latest but, due to lack of space in the chalets, are kindly requested to leave at or before that time. It will be possible to change in the chalet before then. When possible, a shower may be available, but this cannot be guaranteed and will depend on the arrival times of the incoming guests and whether or not the chalet is full for the forthcoming week. In any case, we ask that the chalet is fully vacated by 4.15pm to enable incoming guests to enjoy their afternoon tea. Your rooms will be ready from 2pm on the day of your arrival. For those who arrive earlier and wish to ski on the Sunday we will find somewhere for you to change and somewhere to store your luggage. If you arrive in time you are welcome to join us for breakfast. |

Hi Niiixsy,
When we stayed in Val Thorens I found a cheap apartment for 2 of us through the VT Tourist Board website. It was with the estate agent Val Thorens Immobilier and it was in the residence La Roche Blanche. I had a look for you just now, and an 18m squared studio for 2 in the Roche Blanche 2 star for 12th January (I don't know when you're going) is only 310 euros. The Roche Blance is very well situated by the piste, and only a short walk from the shops etc. The apartment we had was absolutely fine but the ski lockers in the basement were absolutely dire and the agency told us to keep our skis and boots in the apartment so they wouldn't get nicked. I think it may well be one of the cheapest places to stay in VT because we had several ski instructors on the same floor as us! If you don't mind staying somewhere more expensive, there are loads of other places. http://resa.arkiane.com/ValThorensImmobilier/ls_b_dispo.asp?lang=en |
