Added Lizzie-B and Bedrock Barney - except that Excel seems to think it's 118 days for Lizzie-B!

Thanks Dave for posting up the link :D
I can see people on the chairlift going up to the glacier on the Grande Motte, but I can't see them ski-ing/boarding down - presumably because they look too small. When I was out there in October 2009 for a short break during half-term, my daughter took some photos from the terrace of the restaurant Le Panoramic, which is at the top of the funicular. In fact, you can see this restaurant in the Grande Motte webcam. It has amazing views, being so high up. In this photo the red run is on the left as you look at it, the area reserved for the ski clubs slalom training is in the centre, and the black piste is on the right. When we were there this was all the ski-ing that was available, apart from a pretty flat blue across the top, for beginners. ![]() |

This is the latest attempt to stop an Excel sheet from going all wobbly when I paste it up on here. Far Queue has fixed the problem with something called concatenation - to combine the required data into one column on the sheet, whilst still allowing Excel to calculate the date/number of days.
If you want to be on this list would you please say where and when you are going and how many sleeps you reckon it is (unless you are a secret agent in which case you can just give me the date!). Excel will let me know if there's a discrepancy, but perhaps some people will be missing out on a night of sleep. Unless I get 50,000 J2skiers all posting up on here I will try and list you all. List of J2Skiers going ski-ing/boarding in 2012/2013 Geno68 going to Davos in 61 days on the 21/12/2012 Bedrock Barney going to Val d'Isere in 70 days on the 30/12/2012 Snowy0000 going to Morzine in 70 days on the 30/12/2012 Smartski going to La Plagne in 77 days on the 06/01/2013 Ian W going to Manigod in 83 days on the 12/01/2013 Catp going to Tignes in 83 days on the 12/01/2013 AllyG going to Tignes in 83 days on the 12/01/2013 Tiger7 going to Tignes in 84 days on the 13/01/2013 Daved going to Tignes in 84 days on the 13/01/2013 Ade73 going to Tignes in 84 days on the 13/01/2013 Joe Colin going to Tignes in 84 days on the 13/01/2013 Felthorpe going to Tignes in 84 days on the 13/01/2013 Far Queue going to Tignes in 84 days on the 13/01/2013 Brooksy going to Tignes in 84 days on the 13/01/2013 Lizzie-B going to Morillon in 118 days on the 16/02/2013 Michelle63 going to Sauze D'Oulx in 119 days on the 17/02/2013 Far Queue going to Lech in 125 days on the 23/02/2013 |

I thought I'd start with this one because it's the closest mountain restaurant to Les Brevieres. I can remember ski-ing past it, and the view from there is fantastic! Here is a photo of it taken from the website above:
To get there from Les Brevieres you go up the Sache gondola and then up the Aiguille rouge (red needle) chairlift. You then have to ski a short way down the red Bleuets piste to the restaurant. I am rather puzzled as to why they say there are 2 restaurants there - the Alpage and the Soli - but maybe they are just 2 parts of the same restaurant. I haven't been able to find a menu with prices, for the restaurant. Edit Further research suggests that the Alpage is self-service whilst Le Soli is the 'gastronomique' restaurant. And to get down from there you can either ski down the red Bleuets into Le Lac, or go back down to Les Brevieres via the blue Rhododendron which flows into the blue Melezes and then into the blue Myrtilles. Edit Andyhull has reminded me that you can also ski down to Le Lac via blues from this restaurant, Rhododendron turning off right onto Petit Col. And he says that Bleuets used to be a blue slope, it was reclassified as red in 2004 (looking through his collection of Espace Killy piste maps!). As you can see from the piste map below, it's at the top of the Chaudannes chairlift which starts at the back (the lower side) of Le Lac. If you click on the map it gets bigger. Les Brevieres is in the far lower right corner. ![]() |

Thanks for that Snowy :D
According to that calculator I've got 84 days, 11 hours and 40 minutes until I start ski-ing at Tignes-Les-Brevieres at 9 a.m. on Sunday 13th January. But it wouldn't let me put Tignes in, so I had to put in Geneva, which isn't really right, but it's sort of close enough. |

I've just noticed that Smartski has put 77 sleeps for the 6th Jan, and Excel reckons it's 78.
Smartski - are you going to miss out on a night of sleep or what? And Far Queue - I prefer it with the actual dates as well - I find all these sleeps very confusing  |

Far Queue has been helping me to do this as an Excel sheet, so that I don't have to count the days because Excel does it for me. And he's collected this data from the last few pages (the same as I used to do).
But when I copy and paste it into J2Ski the layout changes - it doesn't seem to like Excel much! However, as long as everyone calculates their own number of sleeps I can still do it manually anyway, like I did last year. So, those who can use those very clever doo-dahs, or a calendar and their fingers to work out the number of sleeps please do so. But for those that can't work it out I can use Far Queue's very clever Excel sheet. This is what J2Ski does to an Excel sheet (but don't worry about it because I can type it in manually and make it look nicer): J2skiers resorts and dates for 2012/2013 Geno68 Davos 21/12/2012 62 Snowy0000 Morzine 30/12/2012 71 Smartski La Plagne 06/01/2013 78 AlistairS Lech and Zurs 06/01/2013 78 AllyG Tignes 12/01/2013 84 Ian W Manigod 12/01/2013 84 Far Queue Tignes 13/01/2013 85 Brooksy Tignes 13/01/2013 85 Michelle63 Sauze D'Oulx 17/02/2013 120 Far Queue Lech 23/02/2013 126 |
