ah, I thought you were going skiing ) in that case you need Solden.
I'm planning on it, perhaps a day out of the week

Check the FIS calendar, you may catch the first womens race at that time in Solden.
dulcamara wrote:Ahh, see right back to the original question, can/should full face bike helmets be used on snow???

Need a full face because i keep belting my jaw with my knee on landings, hehe have also managed to punch myself in the face a few times with my pole. Just bored of worrying about my teeth everytime i land wrong. I have a normal race helmet but the gate guard just doesnt cut it.

you'll need to ask what standard any helmet conforms to and see.

In general, can normal cycle helmets be used? That's definitely no. Can a downhill one be used? That seems possible on paper at least.

If you use the wrong one, not only are you risking injury but also your insurer turning around and telling you they're not going to pay out which is worth thinking about.

And I can't possibly agree that its definitive, simply because we are all different and have different ideas about it.

So (moving on and avoiding any semantics) - you are obviously an experienced, "good" skier - what do you look for?

That's a good question and I'm sure there's no answer to that. I enjoy being able to make the best of whatever the local conditions are, whether that's a good lunch or climbing something and skiing out. I ski a lot of days so I get to kick back sometimes and other days do a lot.

How about format like this

Calgary Banff/LL 1.5hrs

Thank you

Not my area but I've always heard Salt Lake City was rated highly for airport and slope access.

As I say, no one has the definitive answer and its obviously all about opinions.

From my own experience, I have ski-ed with some hugely accomplished skiers, who are quick, very technically proficient and enjoy shredding reds and blacks from first til last. A good day for them, is a long day, having covered as much mileage as possible.

No one can argue with that; its a personal thing.

Therefore, Ise (and Bandit, Admim it isn't true to say that good skiers don't seek to rack up the mileage.

What is true is to say that some good skiers like the mileage and some go for something else, perhaps new, unski-ed powder trails for instance.

I missed the part about it not being definitive or absolute, actually it is, you really won't find a good skier that looks for mileage. Honestly you really, really won't.

There's nothing wrong with being an intermediate and wanting to cover a bit of distance, taking in the odd black etc, but it really is a phase that people pass through. We've all done it, there's nothing wrong with it at all and there's some good and big ski stations to go and do it at.

We should be sure we're talking about the same thing, by accomplished skiers I'm talking about instructors, guides, racers or those hitting that standard, not talented, strong intermediates just out to enjoy themselves.

Bang on the money though. 8)

I'm pretty sure there are good skiers out there who like to test themselves by skiing as much as they can in terms of mileage, as well as new runs/particularly difficult runs etc.

If by good you mean technically accomplished then you will most likely find that pretty much without exception they're not interested in mileage.

so, bang on the money )
