For me personally anything down to -15 is just Jacket/Salopettes and a silk thermal/mid layer under my top nothing under salys.

I guess the most important thing is to get them to wear too much because they can always take stuff off. I'd recommend silk thermals and perhaps a fleece. If you spend alot of money on anything make it on good gloves otherwise cold hands will be the first thing they complain about..

I have 2 of each, maybe 3 jackets and 2 s's that I take. Depends where you are going and how old the kids are....

I can't say I've had a problem in practise witha probe, they tend to go right through to the ground if they can even make it that far-damn rockies snow pack 8)

Keep fit all year. I couldn't go from doing nothing for 11 months to being at the fitness level i wanted to be in just 4 weeks. To be honest I don't know how anyone can.
