Aching calf muscles

I had that big time this trip, and it still hurts. I wondered if I wasn't stretching enough but I'm now beginning to wonder if it's all the knee strapping... My brace (and strapping on the other knee) is done up really tight so pushes my calf muscle down. I then put my boots on and it pushes the muscle back up so it feels like it's being condensed into a 3 inch gap. It was alright when I skiing but when I took the boots off... man alive

I'm glad you brought this up again. I think I'd like to ellaborate as I get the feeling it may cause me problems again.

To clarify, quads, hamstrings, thighs, et al, not a twinge. Shin (muscles) a bit sore which, I was told, meant I was in the correct position. Calf muscles as above. Just to be clear, I have no pain with my boots.

So, one day off the slopes, the neoprene/strapped leg is fine. Five days off the slopes, the hinged brace calf still hurts, particularly to the touch.

I'm wondering if my first theory was correct or could it be something else? My husband's advice is to ditch the brace but I'd appreciate any other suggestions.

cheers mate, I can wait...

going well with the family? how's mrs m doing?
not the greatest airport, although we found the bar (sorry ross, only just seen thread) and it's obviously got wifi!

look out for the bleriot plane hanging from the ceiling, my bessie mate's fiance is his grandson (previously mentioned hen weekend in edinburgh next weekend).

Have a blast ross, lots of off piste for you I'm guessing :D
firstly, I'm really sorry to hear of your experience, not a good one.

Having read the posts here, it seems hit and miss with regards to chairlifts. However, gondolas are a different story.

Having been forced to travel down the mountain in a lift more than I ever would've wanted to, I can tell you that being up there is priceless. Just to get up there, have some lunch, breathe in the air, take in the views, is soooo worth it [even for someone who was desperate to ski down but just had to wave from the gondola ]

I've done this in Les Arcs on the transarc, Tignes on the aeroski and the funicular up to the grande motte and the gondelbahn in N and each time was well, well worth it.

Look for gondolas, obviously the more the better for your wife.

good luck

if any of you going out there could get a photo from the top of red 24 I'd love to see it. funnily enough, standing at the top of it I don't think I could've told you what a camera was for let alone think of taking pictures
