Skied for 30 years no helmet. Pulled of chair lift last year, smacked head, sparko for 2 mins I'm told. Now have helmet because of someone else's inability to ride a chair lift. Find it ok if a tad warm at times. I have spotted more and more insurance company's insisting on helmets so I fear the day will come when if you want insurance it will be compulsory.

Depends on many things including age and ability of skiers and views on transfers. I have don Christmas & new Year in Passo Tonale, ideal for beginners but long transfer and had a great time. You also need to choose hotel carefully as well. I have also been to Livigno over the holiday period and it was wild, but a long transfer.

I returned from Livigno Saturday and the snow conditions are fantastic. It is my second trip in 3 years and I would go again. The transfer is a bit of a drag even from Innsbruck but well worth it. Fantastic for beginners and a lot of fun for intermediates and with the amount of powder out their, even the advanced skier could have a lot of fun. Stayed at Hotel Galli which was excellent.

Never skied France before and am thinking of trying Morzine however snow conditions at the moment seem a bit iffy. Would appreciate any thoughts from the Francoskiers.
