It's a good outcome, and surprising.

I couldn't see on the post what the angle was, the risk that day or even the slope aspect and prevailing wind direction so it's hard to draw much from the account for me personally. I see digging pits on a ridge proved to be of little use which is something that's discussed a lot.

only young and naive teachers chose to take trips with the pupils, most school trips struggle to find teachers who are prepared to accompany them

sparkler wrote:Does anyone know of any brands that make extra long ski pants for women ? I can go anywhere in the the south East although buying on line would be preferable. I am looking for a 34" inside leg seam and haven't found anything yet. Any suggestions much appreciated.

I know mountain hardware do trousers in different lengths for women if that's any use. Not sure if it's on all their range though.

quite, ski strength isn't the same as the strength you'd need for cycling or running so it doesn't mean too much to say you've got strong legs. I reckon my legs are pretty strong but I'd not want to run a marathon for example.

There are ski areas that have several distinct village centres, like the Jungfrau with Grindelwald/Wengen/Murren for example. You could spend a night in each but I'm not sure I see the appeal, you can get between each in a short time so it's contrived as a journey.

Some guides do ski safaris which are soft touring trips, for example

The obvious area would the Portes du Soleil which has loads of different villages but it would be a real pain booking accommodation I suspect.

Verbier should be fun for you, you only need a guide if you're planning some major off-piste which can be good in that area.

Transport from Tignes to Moutiers

Red Penguin wrote:Can anyone help? My daughter is on a university ski trip to Tignes which ends on 20th December and then is joining us in Courchevel for Christmas.

I know there is a bus from Moutiers to Courchevel, is there a bus from Tignes to Moutiers? I have been on the Altibus web site, but it isn''t clear from there whether there is a bus or not. When it comes to it I don't want to waste a day driving from Courchevel to Tignes and back when I could be skiing.

Alternatively can anyone offer her a lift (she is only small although she does have her own skis).

Thanks

Paul

I doubt it, there will be one to Bourg and from there a bus or train to Moutiers would be easiest.
figures are showing that in terms of average snowfall over the 10 years levels are currently 170% of average across much of Switzerland which is quite a bit really.
