Don't know why, but I'm thinking Tirol. ;)

I used em on my one and only package ski holiday. Val d'Isere in a catered chalet, 1 week with passes. Can't remember prices and apart from a bizzare arrival where 30 people ended up in a closed hotel drinking tea, it was great.

From the 12 or so ski areas I have been to, S/H has the best infrastructure by a long chalk.

The format was shamelessly "borrowed" from the internet. There are many out there designed by people and posted for general use. I dont have the time to do it all myself but know enough code to be able to adapt it to my liking.
Let me know when you are in Zermatt, likely I will be working, the first 3 months are not the wisest for holiday requests :) but a beer would not be out of the question!! |

Eyes feel a lot better tonight :)
The gacier at Zermatt is fine, there are a lot of instructors and ski clubs up there in summer. As Allz mentioed you occasionally get a hole or crack in the drag lift route, but these are small and within minutes of appearing marked by the staff. The suface is typically rock solid at 8am, about perfect between 10am and 11.30am, and after that deteriorate. However they stay good if there is a wind blowing in sunny conditions. Check out the blog for some pictures of this weekend in Zermatt. |

I got 2 risks of August snowboarding in Zermatt. Sunburn and snowblindness :(
seriously I was plastered in SPF 20 every 20-30 minutes or so and I still look like a trucker with a tomato for a head. Secondly I got mild snowblindness I assume. Interesting how that happened considering I was wearing sunglasses all day!! Can only guess that they were not full enough and I was getting glare from below. Started with an irritation in my right eye, then my left. Them I couldn't stop blinking and they were watery. This came close to packing in time so I headed back to the Kleine Matterhorn to begin the long drag back to town. Intermittent pain then accompanied a strange sensation of being able to focus immediately after blinking then losing focus. All a bit strange, still have the pain now like grit in the eyes and occasional sudden dryness. Apart from that it was great :) |

I try and use BA, solid, reasonably priced and airmiles. However Easyjet just announced Geneva -Newcastle in winter which could come in very handy. It's bloody impossible to fly to Newcastle direct from Southern Germany and only marginally less from Switzerland.
Also BA extended my Gold Membership by 12 months by means of apology for the industrial action that didn't affect me in the slightest. |

I hope to god the scales I used at the pool this afternoon are wrong!! 14 stone!!
I'm tall and it's all muscle, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I used to fluctuate between 10.5 and 11.5 mind I was a bit on the skinny side. Coped okay at 3800m today however, after getting the set up right I had a blast. |
