For future reference: The "Snow 'n' Rail" offer from Swiss rail (see for example: http://railaway.rail.ch/english/snow-n-rail/valais/nendaz) gives you a discount on the rail connection from the airport, a discount on a 1 or 2 day lift pass and a 15 per cent discount on ski hire from Intersport.
For some reason the above offer is not written in English on the website. You can buy the ticket at the rail station in Geneva airport on arrival.
Details of the discount on ski rentals are in English: http://www.railaway.rail.ch/english/snow-n-rail/ski-rental/on-the-slopes-with-intersport-rent/

Used Skiset a couple of years ago in Tignes and they were a nightmare. No helmets for the children to hire - we had to buy some from a different shop ! We had pre-booked the top range of skis for two of our group and they only had the mid range left. Shop were completely unhelpful - and pretty rude. We did (eventually) get a refund of the helmet hire costs when we got home, but it took several email exchanges to get there. Never again.

Thanks everyone!
I've gone with skiset, so hopefully they'll give us nice equipment! My French is pretty good, so I will do my best to talk them into an upgrade for free.

Skiset have about 700 shops, they have to be getting something right, year on year )
Good luck with the upgrade quest, and have a great time!
