It was a trend I had noticed recently. Thanks for voicing it Dave.

It is really strange this one I suppose I have been posting on J2ski now for over a year and not once have I taken offence at anybodies posting even the Wickham horse  why because it is a bit of fun, Yes I have had a couple of run Ins over that time but nothing that would stop me posting on this site.
Now this is possible the part that will make me slightly unpopular and it is all about the word "Ego" why would anyone take offence at somebodies opinion or because they like to ski in a certain resort because
I don't really care where people ski or what people do with their leisure time, unfortunately there are some of our more sensitive members who seem to take comments to heart and I really do not understand why they would get so upset by somebodies opinion.
I do not intend to change the way I post and if I have upset someone feelings over the past year I have been the first to PM them with an apology, but come on I have seen nothing on this site apart from the odd clash of personalities and ego's, it seems yet again a mountain is being made out of a mole hill. I thought most of the members here were mature people now I'm not too sure.
Goodnight it is way passed my bedtime

I think what Dave is referring to, is not the odd poke at a regular poster, but a tart response to someone's first few post. It can be quite intimidating to be a new poster on a forum, and an innocent question does not deserve a dismissive reply.

As an habitué of a couple of other forums I think that this place is a very friendly place, with no bad language, or really officious "elder statesmen" posters who think they know it all and ignore newbies or are officious.

I guess I would say I'm a fairly sensitive person, and I thought the Wickham horse, the Tina, and some of the Borovets comments were a bit over the top, and I was very glad they weren't directed at me.
However, I do usually find that some kind person will intervene before things get totally out of hand. And, failing that, as a last resort, Admin is very good at controlling threads and if he can't get people back in line, then he locks them. I wouldn't like to belong to an unregulated forum.
Thank you very much Admin :D :D :D

As someone who posts and frequents too many rugby message boards, this is the least antagonistic board I've come across. Indeed, I'm surprised just how 'nice' some people are to each other!
I'd suggest to any lurkers, dive in and don't worry what others think. You'll enjoy it!

In which case I apologise, as I have been guilty of that lately. It is hard to post tongue in cheek or sarcastically, and as people have said, it can be taken the wrong way unintentionally.Trencher wrote:I think what Dave is referring to, is not the odd poke at a regular poster, but a tart response to someone's first few post. J2ski is the only forum I frequent because it is so friendly. I have dipped into a few other forums including a couple of other ski forums and a 'tortoise forum'.  I can honestly say that on J2ski I have never seen anything that compares to some of the outrageous or nasty posts elsewhere. Having said that I can see how new members who are not familiar with the different personalities, may be offended easily.
