I thought you were doing the season in Passo Tonale, have your plans changed ???

No not a season Ian just 2 or 3 weeks Teaching Half Term and Easter.

This is the first time I have done the HOSTING(dont want to get the name wrong again lol) so a bit nervous not sure how ill handle moaning winging clients. :) Still its mainly 25 to 35 yr olds so im hoping they will be there for a good time and have low expectations. :)

Hi Jonah,
I have been looking after holidaymakers in our holiday cottage here in Pembrokeshire for 12 years now. I have had some pretty whinghy ones over the years, but generally most people are great.

If something goes wrong (like the smoke detector went off in the middle of the night for no reason once) I try and give them a small gift to make up for it, like a box of chocolates. If something breaks I try and fix or replace it as soon as possible.

And I try and be tactful and not put my foot in it (like saying 'wife' instead of 'partner'). It is very difficult to get the right balance between being helpful and interfering with their holiday. Some people want to know all sorts of things, and others like to pretend we're not there and prefer to find things out for themselves. So I just try and go along with what they want - after all, it's their holiday.

If the weather's good (plenty of snow etc.) they are more likely to be happy, but if it's bad they're more likely to look for something to complain about.

I hope you have done plenty of research on the resort, so you do know the answers if they ask you about something.

Best of luck,
Ally

Thanks Ally. Its all singles so im hoping they should all be ok. I have probably skied the three valleys more than anywhere else as my friend had an apartmnt there untill a year ago and we usually had a couple of weeks each year but upon looking at a piste map the other day i suddenly realised that although i know instinctively where i am going i have never paid much attention to the names of lifts and runs etc because i relied on my friend.:)Im more concerned with the time it takes to get up to the resort by lift from Brides and the lack of nightlife but im sure it will be a blast and looking forward to it.

Jonah, I think you will need a pointy stick to make sure your peeps get on that gondola in the morning for the half hour ride up the hill :D

Hi Jonah,
It sounds as though you have a lot of homework to do before Christmas, studying the piste map! It'll be okay if you're with them, because you know the way, but not so good if you have to tell them which way to go, because you'll have to know the names of the lifts and pistes.

A couple of years ago, we got taken over the whole 3 valleys in one day by our instructor from Val Thorens, and I was totally bewildered by the number of lifts and pistes everywhere - I just followed him! And afterwards I asked him to mark our route on the piste map, so I knew where we'd been. I suppose you could mark out routes for people, on their piste maps.

Anyway, I hope it all goes well,

Ally
