My guess is that this was a holiday booked where the company were using scheduled flights with a budget airline over which they have no control.
I can see a company like TUI cancelling a charter flight, surely that would screw up 100's of package holidays.

I have been DIying for years never had a flight cancelled, accomodation never cramped and never loads of Brits 8)
