I don't normally take an iPod skiing, no need for it really.

A few of our guys have bought these ski bags designed to take all your luggage, great idea. On one of our trips last year they got charged for extra baggage because the airline said that ski carriage covers ski bags up to 18kgs (I think).
On our return we informed the ski operator who were none too impressed and happily refunded the charges.
More and more people are going to be buying these bags, the airlines need to get their act together.

As long as you've only got 1 bag and it weighs no more than the limit allowed, I see no problem why you can't pack what you want in it as it is hold baggage. I was thinking of one of those split rollers this year, but I think I'll go for a ski bag that has compartments to put more stuff in and get away without paying ski carriage.

Ummmmmm. Drive to airport, flight, transfer, music in accommodation, tunes whilst skiing for a bit. Or in your case the long drive down.
Plenty of Ipod time.

Granted it is played in the car on journeys but remember I have a 10 year old that does not stop talking on a plane, no peace for the wicked 8)

Right now (having made my ski purchase!!! YAY!!) i am looking at bags. I just do not know if i should by a single one for about £30

I really do not want to put all my eggs in one basket in case the basket goes missing but if i get the bigger bag will the skis rattle about too much? I thought i could probably get my boots in it too but would they slide about potentially damaging the skis?

How do you pack?

Do you pack your skis base to base (like you carry them) and wrap the bindings? Or lay them both flat side by side? or binding to binding?

Skied: Arinsal, La Plagne, Alpe D'huez, Flaine, Les Arcs, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Sauze, Courchevel, Val Thorens

That's virtually what I take my skis in. Mines a double ski bag, but I now only take 1 pair with me.

Heres what I do, others may do it differently but this works for me:

Skis base to base, tied with ski ties top and bottom.
Wrap skis in bubble wrap tip to toe, taking extra care to pad out over bindings.
Wrap ski jacket around bindings (inside out in case edges cut part of jacket) and zip up tightly.
Lay skis down in ski bag, using the elastic straps inside the bag.
Pack ski clothing around the skis - I usually take 2 or 3 pairs of sallos and another ski jacket. All of this stuff is actually very lightweight but bulky and therefore does a good job in packing out the bag and protecting the skis.
Lay you ski poles down inside the bag as well, packing them as best as you can with clothing.

I also pack a pair of sturdy walking shoes in this bag, along with multi packs of choccy bars which will be needed on the slopes!

Ski boots - in your suitcase which you are checking in on the plane.

Don't forget to make the most of hand luggage, and pack all your electrical items in hand luggage, along with goggles, gloves, a bobble, and a pair of socks JUST IN CASE cases go missing! Oh, and your Ipod!

My ski bag is Big Air and it was £39.99 for a double sized one, so shop around. I think I got it from ski warehouse. Its lasted well, despite being battered around Europe a fair bit. I'd prefer one on wheels TBH.

I have single and double ski bags, we have recently taken the double which carries two pairs of skis and two pairs of boots and the only other items in the ski bag is a file some wax and a Screw driver.
Only take one Jacket and one pair of Sallo's don't need more than that for one week and lets not forget one pair of socks.
