The pound has now improved again against the euro, and it's higher than it's been for ages.

Visa are quoting 1 pound = 1.1596 euros now, if you use your Visa card for purchases/cash in euros, minus whatever fees your own bank might charge you.

But Visa have changed their website so the currency rates are in a different place. You now have to go to Visaeurope.com then 'cardholders', then 'International traveller', then 'more help and tips' which includes the currency exchange rate. The table for this is the same as before.

As I have said before, it's amazing by how much, and how fast, the currency exchange rate changes. It seems to be able to move by about 15%, which makes a big difference to the price of a holiday, or lift passes etc.

Another small improvement, presumably connected with the bad financial news in Europe at the moment.

Visa is quoting 1 pound = 1.1769 euros

The best rate, apparently, (for us and the pound I mean) in the last 120 days was on the 6th May.

Sit tight, Greece are doing their best to take the Euro down. Rates will climb, especially once the markets gain confidence in the UK government.
I reckon we will be looking at 1.25 by June.

Hope you're right Tony. Off to France in June for a sailing jolly. A few extra Euros would be very welcome.

Visa's rate at the close of today was 1.19 euros to the pound. So the euro is still falling against the pound, which is very good for us Brits :D

It's Sod's Law. I arrive home from Munich. Pound strengthens. Let's hope it's better for my trip to Sauze (woots it's booked) in January.

Good for 'Brits' travelling abroad but is it any good for the economy?
