Strange....

;)

A few other questions spring to mind....

Do we have a count of interested parties yet?
Am I the only snowboarder?
How many attractive single ladies are going?
Can we get a group deal on lift passes?
Can those who need get a group deal on hire?
Will there by enough snow?
And has anyone seen my G&T?

Rusty, you had me at "slightly disturbed", tell me more??

Pretty much exactly the response I expect

However, the chalet we have booked in Arabba in January will involve sharing with a group of people we've never met, so not that much difference really. If this year's experience is a good one (we've never done a chalet holiday before) then I think I have a very good chance of getting a 'yes'. If it's a disaster I may have more of a problem and have to convince OH to book a hotel in Zermatt that week instead :D

It's not like J2skiers are all axe wielding madmen, or anything (I hope.........)

Yep, Kamanga is the one with "mixed" reviews, although it has more spaces.

I have a feeling, and shoot me down in flames for saying this, that a number of those who have expressed an interest at this stage will possibly/probably not end up going for various reasons. Therefore, for those who are in a position to commit (not me at this stage as I have just paid for this seasons 2 trips) maybe they should consider putting a deposit down individually.

I think I will wait and see what deal they offer on lift passes, seeing as Zermatt is the most expensive in Europe I believe.

Genepy looks pleasant enough, and if 12 people commit, anyone else who wants to join up can find another chalet and go for it or make their own plans. IF this ever actually comes off. In principal, it sounds great. However, I bet there are a lot of "other halves" out there who when their partner suggests a week away with a group of people from a website might start to panic, have 2nd thoughts, or call the police

We have something to go on for starters, and the seed is sewn. Lets keep close to it over the course of this season, and if and when the lift pass deal comes up we can review again and those that can/want to can commit at that time.

Zermatt has always been top of my list.

That's one of the most sensible posts I think I've read from you  Very much agree with you on the whole thing, we will be in more of a position to commit in the New Year but definately interested.

I told Mr Nelly the other day and he started sweating like David Beckham in a maths test.

Would it be an idea to maybe have a 'meeting' at the end of the winter (somewhere Central) for those still interested so we can meet each other, get OHs involved and make a definate decision? Get all the info together now, get a list of definates and sort something out in the New Year?

Please feel free to also shoot me down in flames.

Here is what I propose, like most people we probably have holidays booked already for 2010 (I have 2 with 1 still to pay).
We cannot book them until late March / beg April 2010 for 2011 Season.

So far we have a list of people who are prepared to join the "Takeover 2011 Tour" (my new name for it)

Me and Mark
Nelly and Mr Nelly
Tony H and Mrs H
Stewart and OH
Ellistine and Mrs Ellistine
Mfc and OH
Snowb4ndit and Scalpula
Dalerobers, OH + son
Rustyinn and OH (possibly + 2 more)
Eljay

A few others who are possibles and making their own way there.

What I propose to do is this: -

E-mail a few companies who have chalets in Zermatt that could either take the above amount of people in 1 chalet or 2 adjoining Chalets.
Get some estimations from them for Jan 2011 (8th Jan Departure)
Discuss potential offers i.e. discount for whole chalet occupancy, BOGOF Lift Passes or Free Lift Passes.

What I would need to know from everyone: -

City you live (to choose a suitable airport in the middle or request specifics for people)
For the children who are included in the above list would you require triple rooms (need to make sure the chalet has these)

Pay the deposit at the end of march 10 / beginning of April if I can find something suitable.

What do you reckon?

If you agree, please PM me and I will start making a list.
If you dont mind, include an e-mail address so I can communicate easier with everyone.

Eljay + 1 other please.
My OH don't ski, but my daughter or sister would want to come with me.

I think we'll find that there will be a complete mixture of people with one thing in common - we all love to ski/board............. and so personally I wouldn't worry too much about going off with a group of people I don't know. I've always done chalet holidays and so we are sharing with complete strangers and have always enjoyed the experience.

Thats 2 reasons why you cant come:

1. Bonnie Scotland
2. Mention of boarding.

Sorry, not my decision. Rules and all that.
