This was the indicative prices given by Zermatt Chalets this morning.
It has a discount of around 90 per person applied based on this Jan 10 prices.
They also said that it is highly likely that they will be offering a lift pass deal in April 10 for Jan 11 bookings, either BOGOF or free lift passes (current lift pass for Zermatt and Cervinia Area is 247gbp).

However they did state that the Chalet accomodates only 12 people.

I just thought that I would call a company to see what they would consider offering.

Have you just stepped up to the plate as the leader of this trip :?:

A few other questions spring to mind....

Do we have a count of interested parties yet?
Am I the only snowboarder?
How many attractive single ladies are going?
Can we get a group deal on lift passes?
Can those who need get a group deal on hire?
Will there by enough snow?
And has anyone seen my G&T?

Yes:

Chalet:

Me and Mark
Nelly and Mr Nelly
Tony H and Mrs H
Stewart and OH
Ellistine and Mrs Ellistine
Mfc and OH
Snowb4ndit and Scalpula
Dalerobers, OH + son
Rustyinn and OH (possibly + 2 more)
Eljay

Possibles:
Caron a and OH
Snowplough + 1 (if we don't go 2nd week of Jan)
Freezywater (if we and up in Austria)

Making their own way there
Bandit
Tino
Skidaddle
Pablo?
Wickers, OH and Little W?

Have I missed anyone? :D

Snowboarders - don't know

Attractive single ladies - probably none as everyone seems to be in couples

And can't help on the others as have never been on a group trip, haven't seen the weather forecast for 2011 and try the coffee table? Enjoy when you find it )

Has it escaped anyone elses notice that we are trying to get nearly 20 people into a chalet that caters for 12?

I thought that too :D

I guess it depends on whether everyone that has expressed an interest actually decides to go, and if so, maybe we could book the chalet for 12 and another one for 8 - there seems to be a lot more choice of chalets for 6-8 people than for larger groups.

I really hope that this trip comes off – looking forward to it already :D

Applying the same logic as the previous calculation I guess that Chalet Kamanga would be around 500pp as it is 570pp.

Zermatt Chalets did ask about this chalet but I couldn't remember how many people were looking at going.

So shall I check with them?

Did somebody not say that this one hadn't had the best of reviews?

How about Chalet Manuela (£499 sleeps 6-8) or if there were enough people that didn't mind spending a bit more, Chalet Angelina (£739 sleeps 8 and has a private sauna.) Both on the same website as Chalet Kamanga above, have private facilities, and include flights and transfers.

Yep, Kamanga is the one with "mixed" reviews, although it has more spaces.

I have a feeling, and shoot me down in flames for saying this, that a number of those who have expressed an interest at this stage will possibly/probably not end up going for various reasons. Therefore, for those who are in a position to commit (not me at this stage as I have just paid for this seasons 2 trips) maybe they should consider putting a deposit down individually.

I think I will wait and see what deal they offer on lift passes, seeing as Zermatt is the most expensive in Europe I believe.

Genepy looks pleasant enough, and if 12 people commit, anyone else who wants to join up can find another chalet and go for it or make their own plans. IF this ever actually comes off. In principal, it sounds great. However, I bet there are a lot of "other halves" out there who when their partner suggests a week away with a group of people from a website might start to panic, have 2nd thoughts, or call the police

We have something to go on for starters, and the seed is sewn. Lets keep close to it over the course of this season, and if and when the lift pass deal comes up we can review again and those that can/want to can commit at that time.

Zermatt has always been top of my list.
